Kudos to the orcas for their intelligence, organization and teamwork but the day was for the greys. The greys showed they are very formidable even when surrounded and constantly attacked by “wolfpacks” of orcas. Also noteworthy is that a mother’s love and instinct clearly should never be under estimated. Respect to these magnificent sea mammals.

I am always amazed when people say " cruel killer whales", or "evil lion", etc. How about they're hungry and they want to eat? They were born to be predators, they cannot graze and eat seaweed. I also feel very sorry for the little calf, but unfortunately this is how the world is working, for the better or the worse.

Great escape!Killer whales are all over Monterey bay they are extremely smart and quick. I witnessed two killer whales one time trying to hunt a seal it was rather unevering. I was running Del Monte Beach they caught it.I was born and raised in Monterey,CA, ran Del Monte Beach every day for five years from Monterey to Seaside right on the bay.Saw other animals twice saw great white shark fins lots of otters and seals. Would never swim in that water ever, but the beach great place to run.
