5:17 Notice how the probe attacks the building. This is a trick done to make the probe "Hold Position" since it doesn't have that command on the command prompt, and it's supposed to help slow the zerglings from getting in.

I read a FAQ, that referred to them as a "macro-hatch", which last edit was 2001.

Back in my day (early 2000's), lots of static defense was frowned upon for some reason. It was considered as cheating or not being skilled enough. Mind you I am from Bulgaria and we played SC mostly in local multiplayer clubs. I kind of miss that - being able to get up from your chair and have a "heated argument" with your opponent.

People b tch and moan about everything; camping, bunnyhopping, zoning, using sword characters, saying "git gud". Basically; this is a great example of something that is a not a legitimate complaint; It is easily countered, it is necessary in most matches, and has an inherent flaw. i.e. e.g. defensive structures cost minerals that could be used elsewhere, they are defeated by Most Things, and are integral to how defense of bases work at all skill levels. They have more hit points than a unit, and cost no supply, but, obviously have no mobility (or at least limited mobility), do minimal damage, and can be outranged and/ or out microed. The ultimate retort is, of course; Git Gud; learn how to deal with these obstacles, and/or convince the developers to nerf them.

I wondered why Jangbi never went for a second Stargate, given how heavily the Zerg was investing in air units. SG is only 150/150 and he definitely needed much more corsair presence than he had during the game.

I have an Idea. Firstly, fleetbeacon + the upgrade cost a good amount of gas, but more importantly, the disruption web also renders your zealots useless. It is just not worthwhile most of the times

Great commentary as always. I feel the way you say Jangbi is a bit off. Check out a couple Jangbi vs Flash english commentaries on VioleTAK's channel from 2008, that pronounciation sounds waaay ear friendly.

I nominate this for an epic tag! This was a great game because it featured a high level game that did NOT follow the PvZ meta (heavy prolonged mutalisk fighting, queens, Guardians, constant Protoss siege of super defended Zerg bases, etc.). It may not have been as long, but it’s exciting to see very different game execution!

Except that there were mutalisks from the beginning to the end - to the point of being annoying to watch - a few queens, guardians about halfway through, and Protoss sieged heavily defended Zerg bases. :P

So here's a question, why do you never see guardians or devourers in brood war with Zerg?

ZvZ is usually a low eco game because of the volatile nature of ling/muta battle so there's little resource and time to spare for hive tech. For other matchups, the low usage of guardian can attributed to their vulnerability to specific spells (irradiate and psi storm) whileas devourers are only a niche unit to counter full air armies which are themselves a rare sight.

These units take so long to get, and are either counters to air, which doesn't always need to be countered. Or, enemy units that can fight them fairly well are already built in mass before the zerg can build any of these high tech units. Also, these units fly, but are very slow. Guardians and devourers are very good in certain situations, but these situations are not super common and they take a lot of tech and gas to get.

That commentor was an idiot; Macro hatches are definitely a thing; it is defined as a hatchery that is not placed optimally to collect resources but is used rather solely to produce larvae.

falcon i love your broodwar videos but you should try avoiding predicting what will happen. it happens quite more frequently than im comfortable with watching in terms of professionalism. it almost comes off as how you want the game to go than how its actually going. alsooooo, dont forget to include epic tags on the title & thumbnail (not particularly talking about the video)! I realized some of the videos i watched, you said it will get an "epic tag" but they werent tagged. seeing an epic tag on my feed is an instant click!
