@@teodorlb Most of the time, game devs don't bother coding an invincible enemy. It's more work than just straight-up coding it like a normal enemy and giving it an absurd amount of hp. In this game, weapons deal at most ~200 damage while the reaper had 650k hp PER LEVEL you have so they probably did not intend it to be killable in the first place, i'm pretty sure the reward you used to get before the revive update was never meant to be achieved, it was just the devs testing out stuff (in case you don't know, the reward for killing the reaper used to be "MissingNo", a character with randomised stats)

That chest you opened expecting to get an evolved weapon must have dropped from an elite that spawned before the 10min mark. The game checks if a chest can evolve a weapon at the moment the enemy that carries it is spawned, not when you kill it or when you pick it up.

@Kurocon At 10:00 is when things are able to evolve. It doesn't matter if you have evolveable weapons or not, the boss must have spawned at or after 10:00 in order for their chest to be eligible for evolution. If you kill a boss that spawned at 10:01, have no evolveable weapons, and left the chest alone until the very end, it still has the possibility of containing an evolution for any weapon you've obtained. If the boss spawned at 9:59 or earlier, their chest cannot contain an evolved weapon. This game checks a bunch of things when a monster is spawned, and for boss monsters, when they spawn is when their chest load out is finalized. There are two loadouts: "The chest can contain an evolution" or "the chest cannot contain an evolution." The 10 minute mark is the threshold for this change.

Maybe it assigned all the chests that were picked up at once a content, but the chest with the gold was just shown first, because they were picked up simultaneously, so the order of presentation was random?

This can be a super painful fight. The old method took 7 hours, the new one 3, but who knows how much impact RNG had - but Red Death is worth it. Just really sad MissingNo is not a thing anymore:/ Congrats on the win!

You are a fantastic beast at this game! Thank you for all your help and info on this game. I am a despicably old man but I fell in love with this game from watching my grandsons play it and I finally just beat the library (easy for you but my fingers just don’t go very fast). (Also I have all the time in the world so it took literally hundreds of tries and several Aleve for my arthritic fingers). It is thanks to your content and hints. I made a little poster (with my ending level and accomplishments) for my grandsons to see so I could brag and hopefully make them be jealous. I only got to 98 level so I hope to maybe improve that but I am so happy that I actually beat a level on any game! I also managed to do it before my grandsons did it too. Thank you for your helpful and entertaining content and I wish you good health, happiness and all the best wishes to you and your families!

In the .2.13a version, witch is supposed to drop between today and tomorrow the tome buff will apply instantly meaning, you won't have to worry about the order in witch you level up your Runetracer. This also means, that spellbinder and the tome will be applied to your lance in full, witch will throw of the freeze timing. Death is definitely still beatable, with this method. I just did it in the already released beta using both tome and spellcaster. I also got tiragisu, spinach and bones though, witch helped a lot.

im so glad I got lucky, first try once I got the positioning down, setting him up was mostly easy, my biggest issue was the start and that positioning, I also had 2 rerolls left before getting to him likely helped alot.

Also rune tracer does not bounce off objects but instead just randomly zips around for a few seconds before it vanishes to recharge before being deployed again after over 10 seconds.

The time that the chest offered a money bag instead of a weapon transformation was because that chest was dropped before 10 minutes. Transformations can only happen after 10 minutes, and chests prior to that won't drop them even if you keep them until after.

Even better, easier and way funner than waiting while doing nothing and it's on the same map. Here's what I did, Just pick Dommario as your character then get Laurel, Magic Wand, Clock Lancet, Runetracer and garlic. Max everything and unlock the evolution of each and voilà. That's how I did it and now I have the Grim Reaper. Oh also I almost forgot but go grab every single free items (Weapons) on the map and also to help you lvl up and pick up the free item faster on the map grab these last two item, Magnet and MoveSpeed.

Played this for the first time today. Death came and I had no idea what I was up against. Came here to see what I needed to do.. funny enough I guess I got a bug, no other deaths spawned, had the right build to freeze him anyway so I put him in that spot and walked away. Took me over an hour. Unlocked on my first try, my first run in with him 😆 go luck!

good job man!! i am currently still trying this challenge... i stopped counting real attempts... not getting runetracer with the 1st lv up 10x in a row sucks (even with reroll) i always either die after min 16 or gain another level... worst one i can remember it was 29:50 and i gained my lv3... been trying this since the update hit... still no success...

dont use reroll to get tracer just restart. It's better to restart 30 seconds in then restarting 30 minutes in. I killed death on like my sixth real run.

I dont understand how people do this, ive tried many times and every time it fucks up to the experience gems being picked up. The enemies get too close and drop experience gem next to the character and its picked up.

you dont have to worry about the order in which you upgrade anymore that was patched sometime ago. Also now with random card thing you can get 3x revives at the start that make this really easy now.

The reason that one chest didn't give an evolution but the later ones did is because (according to the wiki) you need a chest spawned after minute 10 in order to have it give an evolution

is there a fully upgraded whip?? i have everything unlocked and cant fully level up the whip for the life of me. the freeze shot and tracer also i cannot fully upgrade. i chose as many of the upgrades as i can ut it seems like the game is always trying to force me to use magic wand.
