it's really sad that the death of flash inevitably caused the downfall and popularity of online MMORPG worlds. this in addition to a lot of the players growing up, i wish kids now still had games that was orientated around fun minigames, roleplaying and talking to other people similar to their age.

Thats kinda the problem with these kinds of games, eventually the servers must go down, and the game can be rendered useless, which is why developers should focus on quality single player games, with decent replay value, for example: Fallout new Vagas is about a decade old, and folks are still playing and making content to this day.

I know! It’s not just games. My son is in 9th grade and I was going to show him a website that used flash that helped me when I took algebra II. But it didn’t work because it ran flash! I’m not even that old for a dad and it made me feel ancient. This was also right after flash died for good and it just sank in that it’s really dead.

As someone who played city of heros back before it shut down, the community was always great, I've never had a better community than the city of heros community. Everyone I met were respectful and if you asked they would help you out if they weren't busy and if they were they'd usually direct you to a wellknown player that helps alot of new people

It is a shame how old games do shutdown for what we loved and enjoyed but with how the technology is these days it is good to bring them back around once again.

The FusionFall Retrobution server is pretty active usually, heck when the Halloween event dropped it reached over 100 players, most being in Eternal Vistas for the event

School of dragons mentioned. :o I'm BrokenTV, one of the people who helped archive and preserve School of Dragons. What's interesting is that it's unironically the best How To Train Your Dragon game merely because the amount of dragons, and that the questline goes through most of the Eras of HTTYD. I don't want to hype anything up, but I can confirm that custom quests are possible.

The fusionfall retrobution is fairly active, also nobody stays in sector v (the starting area), you'll mostly see people in at Peach Creek, Mount Blackhead and other trading hubs.

There's tons of MMOs out there, even now World of Warcraft (which went downhill after warlords), EverQuest, EVE Online, Maplestory, Ragnarok, El Sword, RPG MO (based on original Runescape), Mabinogi (lots of in game bands or at least there was when I played), etc. Most MMOs these days have been replaced with gacha, unfortunately.

Animal jam is fire. (And play wild) You can collect clothing, animals, make different characters, different houses and dens, pets, collect all types of things, and have silly fun times with friends lol, its MUCH more than just trading despite some toxic players. Plus nostalgic if you played it growing up. Comfort game fr. Same for webfishing now lol. Also cute animals and I love how many there are. Second life is also fire and really complex and you can create amazing characters and do cool things, kind of miss it tbh lol but Idk how to play anymore lol.

Fusion fall isn't abandoned. It's just a really big game so as you level up you will end up really far away from the starting zone.

Fusion fall was abandoned because someone reported them for making money when it was just a fan project. Cartoon Network came and shut down the original recreation which would continuously have at least 100 people no matter where you went in the main trading posts. I didn’t even realize fusion fall. The fan project had been remade until about a week ago or even reminded that it’s not the original recreation until this video.

Fusionfall being here is a lil dumb considering that the early areas like sector V arent the place where people hang out in. Like some have said here, Retrobution is the place where everyone plays the game in now, and it has a fairly active community in the discord server. Players are usually found in peach creek commons and mt. blackhead.

Curious what city of heros server you played on. Homecoming is the biggest, and it's officially recognized/licensed now from NCsoft. Their official forum post earlier this year had like 46,000 unique players across the month of April. So it's probably the most not abandoned game on this list

something to note about City of Heroes: Homecoming: it originally started as a private server, but it actually recieved an official blessing from NCSoft, the rights holder, so City of Heroes is actually around in a semi-official capacity, and is still getting new content!

Surprisingly FusionFall has a lot of fan projects! I'd personally recommend you to play Retrobution since it has a lot of QOL changes and new nanos / missions but there's a couple more of them which came from OpenFusion (original version of the game that is still playable)
