I really liked it! Ranger's Apprentice definitely needs more attention. The audio was a bit off from time to time though, other than that, I really enjoyed it!

Thanks. Yeah audio guy we were suppose to have fell sick on the day, and I don't have high end audio gear in my kit. So had to use a crappy rode shotgun mic that I had and that was it.

@@slothy0111 All of it in perspective: The actors were doing it for free as they were tehcnically the clients. They had acess to costumes at a nearby medieval place for free which is handy. $200 to me for everything else.......because mates rates haha. Realistically from a random client it would be around the $350 for half a day and $450 for a full day (Which is my time and gear included), then editing per hour costs later. But for film gear I listed it in the description. In total that gear probs is worth $3000-$4000 AUD when it was all brought brand new. Renting it would be down towards the $250 a day range. Film gear is pricy as hell. We shot this from 11-4 so half a dayish. And then took me 8-10 solid hours later to edit.

Really, really well done. I would like to see a whole series of these shorts. Personally I think Halt should appear older, but these actors are so good it really doesn't matter that much. I'd watch out for depicting the ranger skill as magic or too mystical. Halt described ranger skills in practical terms. He did have elven magic ground radar.

I loved this, and i normally dont like fan films but this one enticed me. I read a couple of the books as a child in school, and they were some of the only books I gravitated to at that age. Would LOVE to see an action seen if that's possible in the future! Great job!

I really enjoyed this but some thing I must say: they had different cloaks, also rangers arrows were one full colour, for example halts were black, only an apprentice would have white on their arrows because the apprentices had their masters colour with some feathers white

Fyi, lifelong eexpert archer here, the fletching colors on arrows serve a purpose. There are 2 fletches of the same color then the 3rd color is different. It always goes on the outside of the string and helps you get knocked and fire in a hurry.

Next time I dabble in a RA short (and now that I'm actually reading the books 😅) we'll be able to do better justice for wardrobe. Black arrow fletchings, seax blades etc. Glad you enjoyed it!

From Artgrid, wanted to get something to fill as an opening and going there can be handy to set up an establishing shot. Would like any feedback regarding the cinematography/editing. When we were shooting there was a radio tower 20m away so had to keep the shots tighter haha. Also kept a bit tighter on the shots just to make the conversation a bit more personal, same for behind the shoulder angles creating this sense of suspicion and questioning.
