It’s so satisfying to reset plants. It makes me happy seeing people like you showing others that they don’t need to be afraid to change things up. I’m definitely team one stem for a “pot” with these guys but I use tall vases and can place other plants in similar setups around them to create a fuller look. I also find the extra height to add more stability for anchoring the support Speaking of support, yours looks amazing. Love that look.

@@habibaballa2934 - it can be difficult losing plants. Unlocking all the ways to make them happy and learning about troubleshooting is part of what makes this hobby interesting to me. That’s why I’m so grateful to channels like this. When there are setbacks, I try to feel grateful for what I learned. It isn’t mentioned a lot, but if a plant has great light and you’re meeting their other needs, pests are often part of the equation. I didn’t know my Monsteras had thrips until they had taken over. I took most of the down to one leaf cuttings and isolated them for treatment. They’re growing back out now. The good thing is, Monsteras tend to take a reset well if you can made the hard decisions early enough. That’s not helpful now, I know. But it’s something to consider for next time.

I found with my rescue I could also train the leaves to face forward with some help of some ribbon gently tied near the leaf neck and back to the pole. Along with a vertical grow light I was able to eventually release the ribbons and had a very "organized" looking monstera. But I also have some droopy,less hardy, less full looking leaves, that I think are what makes your re-arranged monstera example as reading less attractive.

Would you please explain why cutting off leaf, which hasn't died yet, will slow down the growth? I cut off one of lower leaves recently, I was convinced it'll take the energy wasted for that small leaf and direct it towards new growth:/
@KillThisPlant8 ай бұрын
Example 1: the plant is in its pot in a closed system. The leaves only job is to produce energy for the plant. Fewer leaves, less energy. Example 2: the plant has been cut and it is water propagating (open system) With a now small root system, the plant needs to work extra hard to move water from the roots to the stem and foliage. With too much foliage the plant will not be able to provide all the water it needs. The plant will start to kill off foliage in hopes to save the newest leaves. This is why it is important to propagate some plants with limited foliage.
