This is where I started to notice that this was a special kind of show. I'm not someone that acts like the first batch of episodes were bad or couldn't stand them because they were ''slow'', it's just that the writing here started to tell me something. The author really cared about story and development. He also gave a lot of boring tropes a lot of new and different spins. Like the whole predictable tournament trope or the best friend/rival trope. Shows like Naruto and Bleach have tried to emulate Togashi's style but they failed imo. Ichigo was a poor mans Yusuke. While the whole Naruto world was just a copy of the Hunter world with a lot of similar characters.

Eehh that’s a bit of a stretch calling them just rip-offs of HxH. Only a few base ideas were used and the rest is original and has its own spin and feel for each anime. You don’t have to constantly compare and contrast anime’s, just enjoy each one for what it is. It’s an experience, not a competition, in my opinion, reusing and creating new ideas is the whole point of story-telling. It’s always been that way.

We were being hyped up to see a dozen different characters in action, and we just never saw them again. Togashi out here turning his inability to properly finish Yu Yu Hakusho due to crippling fatigue, into a plot point in Hunter x Hunter. That’s how you acknowledge your past and move on.

This anime is always on the list of top 10 best anime series ever, and often in the Top 5 and in some cases the number 1. Its crazy how roughly every 20 episodes the show changes into something that makes it twice as good as it was before, theres gonna be times where you cant stop at just 2 episodes knowing the next one is available. Also saw Demon Slayer on the TV in the beginning, shit is fire right, another show i just started watching yesterday which is extremely similar to Demon Slayer as far as genre goes and just as raw is Dororo. This spring anime line-up has been altogether amazing with One Punch, Demon Slayer, Bungou Stray Dogs, Dororo, and Attack on Titan, i mean c'mon.
