I see several common about ISA giving half of Vekta to Helghast after them "winning" the war didn't make sense. So here is so background. ISA didn't giving up half of the planet by choice, they are force to do so under gun point. ISA Alpha Centauri like the name suggested, are just a regional government/police force of Alpha Centauri. The true government of human race and all the colonies are an organization call UCN. And UCN is a powerful organization. Their army, the UCA are stronger than even ISA and Helghan combine. It's just because their territory are so large, they can't direct rule every thing, so they usually don't intervene what regional government are doing. UCA don't seems that powerful because the only time they show up in game is during KZ1 with UCA fleet getting their ass kicked by SD Defense Network. But that's just one support fleet of many. Visari's plan of using SD Defense Network to force UCN negotiate peace is a doomed plan from the start, as UCA can easily send several full-bore invasion fleets if the support fleet got destroyed. Even though UCA seldom goes to war, if they truly did, unlike ISA's failed invasion, Helghast will just get crashed by them. During Second Extrasolar War (story of KZ1~3), UCN are pissed at ISA, fisrt with ISA's oppression towards Helghast causing the war (even though UCN are the real culprit in this matter), second with ISA can't contain the matter by themself, third with ISA disobey direct orders from UCN and lunched the failed invasion, fourth with the result of an entire planet being destroyed. So it was UCN who ordered ISA granting refuge to the Helghast survivors on Vekta, basically as a punish. And ISA had no choice but to listen, as if they don't, UCA will be the next who knocked on the door. You may say we (Sev and Rico) only did it to stop Helghast destroying Earth. That's true, but it''s also possible that: A. Maybe UCN think even with the threat of the super weapon, destroying an planet are still over kill; B. Maybe UCN don't took the threat seriously, even Stahl think he can just warp to earth and bombed it, for all we know, UCA might be able to wipe out Helghast fleet before they even get to orbit (or they might think so); C. Maybe UCN just don't care about the reason, it result with Terracide, that's all they care.

Which is fair, to be honest. Studios should have the liberty to change projects once they feel a franchise has been explored enough. New ideas and new stories to work with are refreshing for studios, rather than being made to work the same franchise year after year after year.
@frenchToast9288Ай бұрын
But for both guerilla games and sony to abandon this franchise while pumping hundreds of millions into concord when you already own this franchise, it's automatically gonna get between 2-4 million sales just off previous fans, and first person shooter market is dry right now, and if sony wants a live service game support a killzone online through season pass and attach free battle royal component with cosmetics.
@shreksnow19182 ай бұрын
You should hover Sony’s other “Halo Killer” (the true Halo killer was itself under 343) Resistance. I’ve been playing those games through RPCS3 and they’re a lot of fun. Too bad each entry sold less and less copies, and they radically altered the gameplay with each entry. That series and Killzone should have collections with all the mainline and spinoff games.
@John_halo1Ай бұрын
I'd say that resistance is more of a combination of half life and medal of honor than a actual halo killer
@shreksnow1918Ай бұрын
Yeah, I agree with that. Especially since R3 is basically a Half-Life 2 clone (one of the chapters is literally just Ravenholm with the serial numbers filed off. Not saying that as a bad thing). I was just calling it a Halo Killer because that’s how most people remember it. Such a shame the series had worse sales with each game. I’ve been playing the series through RPCS3 (PS3 emulator) and they’re a lot of fun. Although, it is kind of jarring how each game is radically different, and they each have their rough edges.
@aaronsmith7143Ай бұрын
I have ps premium or extra. Whatever let's you stream the ps3 games. And they added the resistance games, even the psp game. They hold up even with the shitty ps3 server blades they have streaming them. If they would only move all the ps3 stuff over to the ps5 server blades it would be awesome.

Killzone Shadowfall as gameplay mechanics go has some similarities to the Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West. What I mean by this is the capacity to play whole sections of the game by as much stealth as possible. Also like Horizon Zero Dawn, the protagonist starts off at a younger age. We get some initial gameplay mechanics by way of navigating through a darker area. Next time skip transitions from childhood to adolescence. Overhearing NPC dialogue changes the atmosphere especially when it adds ambiguity. You come to question more about your character’s actions. As you advance through Shadowfall - you might find yourself with doubts - not just about missions. You may have doubts about what happen in the prologue too. Likewise - there’s the mysterious Echo. The conflict takes unusual twists as story progresses too.

I appreciate the lengths you went to make this video! Always enjoyable! I never got around to Shadow Fall. I remember the negative backlash that it had, but I wasn't in a good headspace for console gaming at the time. So I had no desire to pick up anything console or console adjacent. No matter what was said about it. Then it just faded into the background when I was able to engage with consoles again, years later. I do have to say I'd agree with a PC port of the entire franchise. Sony keeps saying they don't have Franchises, when they're leaving so many to rot away. A PC Remaster of the series would be a great way to not only appease fans of the series, but also draw attention to, and maybe incentivize making a follow up. It's wild to think they had an ending like that, and then never moved forward with a follow up. This has been a fun romp, thank you for going through the main series!

I appreciated the variety of levels and quality of visuals, but my main complaint was that the main weapon was too useful at all ranges, and didn't have the same authentic/grounded feel of the KZ2 and KZ3 main weapons. You could look at them and see the ideas fused from real world weapons. They had a weight and felt more than generic sci-fi guns. I also missed having a charismatic helghast leader actually at the forefront of the story. It's just hard to move on from Visari and Stahl (yes, Stahl is present, but he's not the main villain, or even present for most of the game). I also miss the weighty soundtrack of KZ2 and KZ3. I understand what they were going for, but you can't go from "Birth of War (Retribution)" (KZ2) or "And Ever We Fight On" (KZ3) by Joris de Man, to the stuff we had in Shadow Fall. It lacks the depth and weight of both. I guess I feel that while Shadow Fall was visually striking and competent, it just didn't feel like Killzone.

I played the game after multiplayer was dead and or shut down so I can’t speak on that part. This was honestly a great story for what the conflict is about especially it’s less spoken about take that the people of a different group you save and allow in your gates, will betray you. Really gives a good message to why countries exist. The gameplay was awesome. I loved the zero G missions, and their combat. The bush having alternative fire modes was even cooler.

My problem with the game was giving half the planet to your enemy and allowing them to come as soldiers and not as just citizens. It be like the Jewish people bombing Germany after WWII for revenge and than allowing the survivors half of Israel. But not just as civilians, but also soldiers with guns and armor and allow them to build weaponry. That point was a joke to me. Should of been where they were building such underground and the Shadow Marshals suspected of such and send you in to see.

Finally a video that doesn't diss the game unnecessarily. The only thing which seems cheap about the game is the ending. And even that could've been avoided if they launched a sequel in few years (to explain it or show the aftermath, perhaps "echo" did it out of revenge rather than stopping the war) but it's more than a decade now. Btw, before someone starts seething I think KZ3 was the best in franchise, but I find people who jump on the shadowfall hate bandwagon to be unserious.

So I was eagerly awaiting for this video to see just wtf was so wrong with it. I’ve watched the entire video and I have to say, I truly believe that Guerilla was snorting, crushing, eating, injecting, and smoking whatever they could grow in their garden and/or ordered off the Dark Web, cause they were fucking COOKING. Maybe the gameplay was bad at the time??? Visually and narratively, I was locked in during the whole video. They absolutely need to make another Killzone game to expand on the story, cause exactly like you said, Echo just kicked off a whole nother shitshow. And if/when they do make another Killzone game, it would be an absolute crime at this point if it DOESN’T come to PC.

Multiplayer was fab, always felt like you could compete and more enjoyable than COD for me. The little drone buddy added a great feature.
@Figdudeton2 ай бұрын
Well, I respect your opinion but there are MAJOR criticisms I have with the game. Coming as someone who's only game when I got my PS4 was Shadowfall, and a previous fan of the series, I was massively disappointed. The visuals were great, but the performance was not, and it had cascading effects on the gunplay of the game. All of the post-processing input lag from the previous games was eliminated, but that also killed the perceived weight of aiming and shooting. The massively inconsistent framerate of Shadowfall made aiming feel so much worse than KZ3. The visuals were great, but also felt more bland than the previous games but still had a lot more style than other games of that era. The level design was not good, the "open" levels felt meandering and unfocused, and the more linear levels just felt boring. A few gimmicks, like the zero g level and the very poorly done stealth segments, helped shake things up but I never got invested in the COD-esque gameplay enough to get over the bad framerate and the atrocious story. The story had more than just a bad ending as negatives, I feel the entire plot of the game barely holds together and makes very little sense. The writers had a vague idea of an interesting story, and the designers had vague ideas of set pieces, so everyone just threw it all together and barely stitched it into something coherent. The ending is legendarily bad. I really gave the multiplayer a shot, but the community never really grew and I couldn't get invested invested in it. Once the lackluster launch lineup started giving way to better games, I moved on and never looked back.

For casual players who only play public games it was not great, but for the competitive it had the best custom games and clan system in the series. Stuff that was sadly not available until many months after release because the game was rushed to meet PS4 launch. It's a shame that Sony stopped making games like the old days. They went from single player third person games without multiplayer non stop until today... the disaster push for live service games. Concord and all they cancelled. Hundreds of millions for nothing. Allow to build it military, got some serious Frist order vibe there. ISA are just bad guys now. The only good Helghast must also be Vekta, again. Super Vuris which is weak plot muffin. Force east vs west story approach, and not a very good one. Protagonist is ok going against his boss who rises him since his dad death that would have been avoidable if the ISA just gather their people frist before turning over land. Seriously, Helghast who negotiated with ISA must have infinite iq and luck for pulling it off. It be like yazi lost ww2 and gotten half of usa in terms of surrendered. Say what about 123, liberation, and Mercs, but at least they knew they were in a war setting they are in.

The ISA were always the bad guys.

2 👇 No it does not , the graphics are cheesy as hell, gone backwards, killzone 2 and 3 was way way way way better . Shadowfall graphics are sketchy and blocked , stalh was found on the planet, getting rid of Rico, septh was a rubbish move, I did not like Shadowfall at all , very dissapointing .......

Of course Shadow Fall is the best looking one. It is the most recent. 😂

The gunplay is much much worse than 2 and 3. The removal of the cover system broke the series. It's better than the first game. That's it
@evprince2 ай бұрын
The cover system is still present and functioned pretty much the same as it did in 2 and 3 in my playthrough. I even showed some parts here where I was hiding and firing from behind cover.

Nah, SF is ass. Even Mercenary was better.

No, its not all or nothing....the problem is the Helghast started the entire war. They invaded Vekta and then were granted some of Vekta as a peace offering and at no point could they stop. So much at the cost of making their own suffer. Also this is what happens when the writers of a series change or have shared duty. Things start to bleed together in dumb ways and you can clearly see how they always wanted to make Echo the lead.

"Evil Joe Rogan". So just Joe Rogan.
@patrickbateman3122 ай бұрын
Joe Rogan isn't evil, he's just a left wing stoner. A bit dim, but not a bad guy.
@badrhetoric56372 ай бұрын
@patrickbateman312 left wing? Ahahahahah! @patrickbateman312 american? Funny, considering you use american methods of strawman and obfuscation. No, not because "he talks to people", because he platforms right wing propagandists, far more than he talks to leftwing people, barely challenges the right wing people whilst he goes after leftwing people. He repeats talking points of the right wing like, immigration, trans rights, anti vax and regulation. Just because he smokes weed, a safe position these days, doesn't make him left wing. Nice try with the american tricks, american.
@patrickbateman3122 ай бұрын
@@badrhetoric5637 He's not a communist, certainly. But politically yeah he's pretty left leaning.
@badrhetoric56372 ай бұрын
@patrickbateman312 no he isn't. Who are you trying to convince? He hosts the most right wing people on the net. He repeats right wing talking points. He's a rightoid.
@patrickbateman3122 ай бұрын
@badrhetoric5637 being willing to talk to people is not a right wing, last time I checked. But then, most American leftists have slid further and further into a purity cult, so I can see why something like that alarms you. Most of Rogans positions are nominally or wholly left wing. His stance on immigration, on health care, on drug use... He's very left wing. On what issues does he hold anything close to a right wing position?

The story was so cringy and stupid I deleted it after the second mission. I genuinely liked Killzone Mercenary on the PS Vita more.

I really liked Shadow Fall. Probably my favourite Killzone game after KZ2.... however, the premise of the story makes absolutely no sense in this game.

if they ever did a Killzone movie but do it right with practical effects and less CGI would be cool there was a rumor a while ago that there was gonna be a Killzone movie but never happened I mean I know most video games that turn into movies do not do well and they suck I mean I even heard of a Metal Gear Solid movie as well. Killzone is the one game that started it for me but before that it was Medal OF Honor. Killzone should come back.
