Kiln Drying Another Load Of Oak

Kiln drying another load of oak. This wood has been split and stacked for about 10 days now. So hopefully the surface moisture has dried up a bit to help with the drying process. We will be trying a new cycle to try and get the dry times down a bit. Follow along to see how this cycle goes.

So much fun. Never any need to apologize for the squeal of children having fun. I honestly believe that is a sign of good parenting. I like the idea of massive air dumps. With the energy stored in the wood the kiln will recover the heat fast. I think you will be surprised how fast the humidity comes down and the moisture comes out of the wood. Thank you for sharing. I also agree with the air dumps, that will be huge to bring the moisture down. And yeah after 3 days wide open the wood will keep all the heat for the most part and be right back up to temp within a few mins. It’s honestly crazy how different it is to dry oak than any other wood.

I'm going to Bunyan on Friday this year. I go every year - I'm in Ohio and it's only about a 2 hour drive.

Yeah it’s definitely far for me. 8hrs. But I’m hoping to come home with something so maybe it’s worth it.
