What a great idea to look at fabric patterns for designs on pots. Just a wonderful idea.

I appreciate kiln openings when the presenter speaks to the process...glaze, kiln temperature, process. All offered information is valuable. Thank you for showing me what the glazes do a the temp you fire.

Congrats on the hummingbird waterer! It's beautiful! And I love the black and white flower pattern. I'm looking forward to watching you create it. The flower design inspired by the fabric is beautiful. It's must a touch outside of your normal motifs. I love the essence of spring it captures. I don't often take commissions, but have occasionally. It depends on what it is.

Thank you Pat! I agree, the fabric inspired is somewhat different. Who knows what other fabric might inspire me in the future. 😉 I know what you mean about the commissions, I always take my time before I say yes, to see if it fits my schedule at that moment and if it is worth my time and effort. Thanks for chiming in!

Oh, I love to sew, too! I have WAY TOO MUCH FABRIC! Hahaha! I am inspired to make those 'tags' for my shows. Thanks! Looking forward to all of your videos! Take care, Monique!

Hi Audry, you sew too? I don't have a big stash of fabric, Although I do have a box filled with scraps... lol Thanks! Have a great day!

Fun and lovely work, as always. Your hummingbird fountain is a standout. I also love the fabric inspired mugs - so delicate! And I'm wondering, would you consider doing a video of your process for making the garden fish ornament? It looks like a fun project to try.

Thank you! I will put a garden funky fish or bird video on my list! I always wing it with those, so that could be fun....lol

I have taken a few commissions for mugs and have explained the possible out comes with color and how the wood firing is always different each time but I would use colors I know that would work with the textures that i used. But its always a great surprise on how it turns out. I had made four dragon scale mugs with same clay and size give or take. But you know sometimes the kiln might take one that did not work always make extra if possible. It worked out.

Hi Sharon! Wood firing is so much more unpredictable (but very exiting!), I can imagine the explaining you have to do! There's no way I can do wood firings on Bonaire, I would have to buy the wood from the store 🤑and most pallets that are used for shipping, are turned into furniture here...lol. I also make extra for commissions if I can. 😉

I don't do commissions. I take suggestions. If it's something I can do and if it would bring me joy to make it and if I think many people would also want to buy it then I will make it and the person who asked gets the first chance to buy it.

I do that too sometimes, for things that I think will sell. Or if it is customer I know well and if they come up with something fun I want to try. 👍😀

@nukuaceramicsbonaire7 ай бұрын
Dankjewel Alexandra! 😆

Love your videos - every single one of them. You are a bright shining light and I appreciate you sharing your talents! I would love to see how you make your tiles & what kind of clay you use? I’d love to try because I want to replace some tiles in my own kitchen….but don’t know where to begin? 💜🪻🌷🌸🌺🌼
@nukuaceramicsbonaire6 ай бұрын
Hi Natalie! Thanks for your support! 😉For tiles and other hand build projects I use a white stoneware with sand from Laguna: #66 WC610. It is made for tiles and such. Making tiles is not difficult, they are just slabs of clay. It gets a bit more complicated when they have to be a certain size. You'd have to calculate the shrinkage. Also, try to 'handle' them as little as possible, dry them slowely between boards and fire them flat on 1 shelf, not over the gap between half shelves to prevent warping. And yes....test, test, test. It is all trile and error and a lot of experimenting. Happy tiling!
