I love the way the Montana Leather plates and mug came out. After seeing your tutorial I went to the site and ordered a set. Can’t wait for it to arrive. I also have plans to make some Koi fish for my garden totem. There were Koi, Red Eared Snappers (turtles), Ducks and Geese in the pond near my studio that got filled in. I want to make something to honor them. People were so upset that the pond was filled in but it needed it. Long story. Thanks for the wonderful tutorials. I’ve been having fun with some of the pieces.

Hi. Another great kiln unloading. I LOVE the seahorses. Please do a video on them. Love the bowls. I'd have the fish, even broken like it is, it's beautiful. Couldn't hear the pinging from the bowls. The extruded vases are cool. I like everything as usual. The last elements are being fitted in my kiln today, along with the thermocouple and 3 × capacitors. It will be like a new kiln. It's doing an empty fire atm, then I can start to bisque 😊 The fish in your last video, I couldn't comment on, said live chats only, so can I say that I loved them as well. Sorry for rambling. Glad your migraine is slowly going away, and you're getting back to your normal routine 🙂

Hi Tiff! I'm glad you're headache is better, and hope it goes away entirely really soon! Great stuff in this load! Too bad about the big fish, but maybe it can be mounted on a backer and saved. It is beautiful. I feel about pinks the way you feel about orange. Too many pinks remind me of Pepto Bismol! But I love the little pumpkin trinket dishes, in all the colors. I tend to mix my own glazes, but I've been eyeballing some of the Clayscapes glazes. Buying them in powder is not too expensive, and easier than all that weighing and measuring. Stay well, my friend, and good luck at the market!

love watching your kiln opening and your positiveness. how do you figure charging for your art?
@hobblecreekpottery Жыл бұрын
That's a tough question. It's the hardest part of the process. The time that goes into a piece and the materials are where I start. If I love a piece I might price it higher so it doesn't sell. It sometimes surprises me when it does. Also, I believe in valuing your work and let the price reflect it. If you value it, others will too.

Love the multi glaze wave plates ❤ Your broken fish is GORGEOUS! glue him together & put him right on your grandkids bathroom wall! 😍 Is that one of Sharon’s textures? I’ve never checked her things out. What thickness of wire do you use for the ornaments? I like the clear over the ornaments more than the pearl. Snow bunny here too! Grew up in Minnesota. ❄️☃️🌨️⛄️❄️ The shape of that teacup is so stinkin cute! Did you do a video on those? Hope you’re headache free by now! 🤗
@hobblecreekpottery Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Spectrum is sooo much more affordable. They do run more than other glazes, especially layered. The teacup is one of Clayshares' designs, and i believe she has a video on it. I'm not sure if it's a free video, though. Super easy as it's a cup with a round cookie cutter skirt. Though I took it up a notch with a fancy handle. What a fantastic idea “employing” your hubby to glaze!! I will have to give that a go. If of course I can keep him awake long enough. He hits his chair and falls asleep so quickly. Great to know about spectrum glazes being so much less!! If you still want to use Mayco the absolute best prices I have found by several dollars a bottle is Bisque Imports! They have Mayco stoneware and stroke n coat glazes for so much less!!! The broken fish could be going around the corner of a wall! One half on one side and the other on the other side. I can’t bare to have you throw it away! Do you ever use powdered kiln wash under your flat pieces? Loooving the extruded pieces!! I got a 6” extruder last winter and had to wait until spring to hang it and still haven’t used it becasue now it’s soo hot in the garage! I can’t wait to get out there and make a bunch of pieces. There aren’t very many videos of how to extrude or add texture etc! I’d love to see how you apply your textures!! I’ve found that my kiln stilts fail every time when I get even a little over cone 6. They aren’t made for that high of a temp.
@hobblecreekpottery Жыл бұрын
That's a brilliant idea!!! Thank you. I have used kiln wash or sand for flat pieces. Basically it comes down to how tired I am when I get that kiln loaded, lol. As for employing the hubby, a few tips that work with my husband. He also falls asleep easily and early. Take a Saturday or Sunday and start early, have snacks, caffeine drinks, and let him marathon Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, etc. Sometimes it's not worth the work he brings, lol.

With fish that has broken in two, I think that the cookies that you put under it was not long enough. I find that when I have made long dishes I make sure that I just have one long cookie. Then it supports all of the fish. But I love your tutorials and kiln openings. As I fire to cone 9, I dip all of my pots. I do not know of any brush on glazes here that will reach cone 9. I some instants I wish that there were. But then glazes that you make up yourself are a lot cheaper. I am in a community studio so I cannot make any of the decisions.
