hahaa i always picture something stupid when someone says something like that. When i worked the edinburgh fringe festival we were setting up the benches and tents and stuff, and the whole site was gonna have fake grass on it. So our boss stands up and announces that we needed to now clean the entire area "because the grass people are coming in the night" and I found it so unreasonably funny that i still think about it at least weekly.

I've been so fixated on the negatives of London being the only real creative hub in the UK that i didn't even consider that the BBC gradually moving north would cause gentrification :(

yeah like it's good for the industry and the BBC is full of welsh speakers and opportunities for locals, but they're not the only big company that's moved to the centre and it'll affect residents longterm because the boom will benefit industries and industry workers way before it benefits the local economy. Plus we've already got tiny over-priced mini glorified bedsits popping up all across the city under the guise of "student housing" that immediately apply for a change in building codes to let as normal flats so the Air BnB crisis is imminent. And any new builds are being bought up buy Buy to Let assholes, which will push "young professionals" out of shared flats and into house shares that then take up houses which should be home to local families! But yeah, Cardiff is very much not north of london lol

Happiness is a clean vehicle! Keep complaining to the land owner so they know the problem is still there and the last solution didn't work, and if you do it via email then you will have a record of sending it

we can try, but it aint that simple unfortunately! in my experience we can send daily emails, call them incessantly, threaten legal action, and withhold rent until it's a safe living space again, and it'll just make them more likely to keep our deposit money, and pass on a bad reference that we once didn't pay our rent on time haha
