Kim Dotcom (1080p) FULL MOVIE - Documentary, Crime

Tech entrepreneur, and owner of the popular file-sharing site, MegaUpload, Kim Dotcom arrived in New Zealand with his family in late 2010. Seeking peace and quiet, Dotcom rented the largest mansion in the land and settled down into an extravagant, luxurious life with his family. In January 2012, it all came crashing down. At the FBI's behest, 70 heavily armed officers stormed the mansion, arresting Dotcom and his coders on a range of charges relating to alleged copyright infringement by MegaUpload. Dotcom refused to be quieted. Once out on bail he continued to make waves, gathering around him an unexpected and contradictory group of bedfellows, throwing raves, starting political parties, provoking the powerful and fighting the charges against him every step of the way. People have an incredibly wide range of views: Is he a bit-stream pirate or a folk hero? An underdog taking on the US superpower or a thief? A wealthy businessman or a freedom-loving anarchist? All of the above?

As a german I am familiar with his "career" for decades now and its still kinda funny to me how he always tries to picture himself as the good guy, never admitting to anything he did wrong. The letsbuyit-incident is a prime example. I mean, you buy shares of a struggling company, than doing kind of a campagne using all of media attention you can get in order to announce you buying and rescuing this particular struggling company. Sure enough the value of the company increases and then you sell your shares. How is this not insider trading? How can he tell the world in all seriousness that his intention was not to earn money due to an illegal short cut? This guy is beyond every sense of self accountability.

I got chills down my spin again when I saw 'the moment of truth' again. When they welcomed Snowden and Assange. Was almost as good as the introduction of Iron Maiden onto the stage. lol

The level of hypocrisy dripping from these politicians and spokespersons is unbelievable. While Kim may have started out as a youthful hacker enticed by the intellectual challenge of seeing what he could get away with, MegaUpload was growing into a legitimate business, freeing artists from the rapacious monopoly of music industry giants, who would take 90%+ of proceeds and leave artists with a pittance. MegaUpload promised to remove the middle man, and give artists the lion's share of the proceeds of their artistic endeavors. And for that, he was "made" a criminal. The same goes with the movie industry, as was documented with his business negotiations with Universal Pictures. MegaUpload was becoming an early version of Netflix developing licensing agreements with content creators.
