@@totsmini3105 not really. You need to pass the bar, which is evaluated anonymously on both ends - she doesnt know the evaluator, and the evaluator only has a reference number, not a name. This is also a fairly common practice in other countries. In britain and new york you need 1 yr of contemporary law and 2 yrs of internship, split in 4, each 6 months in different fields before specialising when becoming an associate. Kim has obviously already chosen her specialty and will be doing 3 years, rather than 6 months in her chosen field before taking the bar. Make of that what you will.

Nobody can seriously think that the mostly white (I assume), privileged rich parents in the College Admission Scandal will serve a heavy long jail term in the two-tiered judicial system where there are different laws for the rich vs the poor (case in point, Paul Manafort).
@rochester2125 жыл бұрын
Exactly. If at least they were black or latino they had a shot at going to jail, but rich whites don`t go to jail in `Merica, that`s a certified fact, just like the fact that a US president can`t be arrested for commiting a crime while being president and that in the american democracy, the person who gets the most votes can still lose. Which means the US is neither a democracy, nor governed via the rule of law. It`s funny really.

Plus, I imagine the only people really using that loophole or capable of using it are qualified legal aids looking to move further up the ladder, and rich kids who have an undergrad in one area but are choosing to enter a field with more financial prospects and use their family connections to get there. I imagine that it is extremely hard to get a placement like Kim has in a law firm as any reputable firm in cities receive hundreds of applications and requires applicants to be able to show a uni GPA, proof of passing the bar or a law degree, internship or relevant experience, etc.

As someone who's spent most of their life in school, either learning or teaching, I have to say learning by doing is SO MUCH BETTER than learning by being lectured to. Kim still has to take the bar. She still has to do the same test. You can even check the stats. People retain less than 20% from a lecture. Practical classes can be 80% or higher. A lot more jobs used to be available where you learn and train and grow within the company while working there. Now there are very few jobs like that. Trades still work like this and people look down of trades people. I don't understand why educational methods that work so poorly are elevated to this level of respect while trades people or people who work while undergoing continuous professional development are seen as less educated.
