Our African Milk Tree plant has three stems and it is three feet tall. We have cut it into pieces and made a shorter plant and then a new forest of Milk Trees.

I just got a white euphoria in. And the roots seem to be at the very bottom and soil seems to be piled around the trunk of it. 2 or 3 inches. Is this how they grow? Or do I need to repote it and put the roots at the top of the pot? And it also seems like it would be very wobbly. And I would need to support it.

How long did you wait before putting the cutting in the new soil?
@thehypertufagardener
@thehypertufagardener Ай бұрын
I wait at minimum 24 hours but 2 days is good. It just needs to look dry and calloused over. Helps to prevent any mold or rooting problems rotting the stem before it "takes hold."

How long does it take for them to dry before you can repot?
@thehypertufagardener
@thehypertufagardener Жыл бұрын
You can dry for a day or even a week, but you can also plant them right away in dry soil (just poke them in) and then don't water for about a week. Soil can be watered to just damp until roots are established.

Great video. I use hydrogen peroxide in my plants keeps the gnats away and it's more natural and it's a lot cheaper.

@@lisag711 how do you use peroxide? Just pour into the soil??

Hey Kim, about how long does it usually take to see branches grow when you cut the mother plant? I pruned mine a month or so ago and I think I'm starting to see a little bit of growth but I'm not sure. It's looked very similar for a long time with a small green part on top of the dried white part. Thank you!

I think ours showed up in a month or so. Just tiny bumps on sides or ends, then you see the development of tiny "hands" shaping upl I posted some photos on the Community Tab if you'd like to see.

Hi can you please tell me what the end looks like on top where you cut it off ? does it heal or look ugly and scared
@thehypertufagardener
@thehypertufagardener 6 ай бұрын
The end kind of puckers in and heals over. I don't think it looks bad at all. I will get a photo and put it on the Community Page next time I am at my daughter's house. Thanks for your inquiry.

I'm sorry did you say chicken grit??? I use perlite and/or vermiculite with succulent soil mix, and throw in peat moss generally with most of my plants--succulents or not. I've never heard anyone talk about chicken grit what is that?
@thehypertufagardener
@thehypertufagardener Жыл бұрын
It is a crushed granite mix for chickens to eat ( I know nothing about chickens). But here is a video where I am explaining it a little. kzbin.info/www/bejne/omrHfX-bmqeceLc

I think that these are planted too close to each other and once they begin to grow pups on the side of each one, they will be over-crowed. Hopefully I'm wrong!

They are doing well even though we lost two. Once they are established, we will plant them individually or by twos. Thanks.

I find that since they are skinny and tall that they actually support each other in staying up straight if rotated often. Much like snake plants. If you have a snake plant in too big of a pot, rather than crowded, you’ll eventually have sections that aren’t surrounded by other leaves fall over.
