I think I've heard this in the '90s, that the launches and LEO should be done by privat providers in 2010. LEO was actually that already by 1990. Human space flight still had to change. We're watching that right now. 🚀🏴‍☠️🎸

@@Danny-bd1ch You didn’t answer the question I asked first, how is it a boondoggle? Starship still has less failures than Falcon 1, and it has an extremely high likelihood of making it to orbit this time. It did last time too but they terminated the vehicle because they did a regrettable lox dump because they didn’t have a payload and instead filled the vehicle with extra lox to keep weight within the flight profile, and the dump started a fire. If they had chosen to put a benign object in the payload bay instead of lox, the vehicle would have made it all the way to suborbit with a successful meco. On top of that, people said exactly what you are saying now about falcon 9, except it was about 10 times as much. Then, falcon 9 succeeded and revolutionized the launch market, and everyone shut their mouths about it, now with starship, critics are a lot more quiet, but still love to whine about SpaceXs rapid iteration testing process, which involves a lot of explosions because they are basically just constantly testing to failure. But soon enough, starship will be fleshed out, and start flying commercial flights, and it will be like Falcon 9 times 100. It will make falcon 9 seem as useless as the atlas V. The vehicle completely redefines spaceflight in almost every aspect of its design and operation, and yet is still about to become an operational vehicle years before some vehicles that it already makes obsolete. There’s nothing about starship that makes it a boondoggle.
