These piano's are indeed excellent, virtually identical to the Bosendorfer! I have a 1977 6'7 black ebony model and the sound is absolutely amazing!

I own this exact same Kimball Imperial 6'-7" grand piano and know first hand how magnificent it plays. The day I purchased mine I got to play a $76,000 Bosendorfer and found the Kimball had better touch and sound especially in the bass register. My Kimball is very used (it belonged to a Church) and could use a rebuild. They were asking $6,000 for it but I got it for the bargain of a lifetime price of $2,400 delivered! I have played better pianos but not for anywhere near this price. I do not think I have to worry about depreciation lol.

Getting one of these next week. It's just a year older than this one. Played it for the first time last week and was thoroughly impressed!

Sound great; wish I lived closer to try out first hand. I like the sound of Bosendorfers and did not know of the association with other manufacturers. Have played the Bosendorfers at the Yamaha centre in London. Softer tone than Steinway.

+Simon Davis I had a chance to try out a Bosendorfer concert grand in Scotland, recently, which was absolutely amazing, although the low notes sounded a bit 'growly' to my ears. Incidentally, is the Yamaha centre in London the same as Chappell's piano store (which I believe is part of the Yamaha group and only stocks Yamaha instruments) or a separate place?

maybe it's the recording equipment.. but, I don't care for the sound of this piano, way too "European" sounding to my ear.. give me a Baldwin or Mason and Hamlin or Knabe, with their beautiful rich full American tones, any day of the week.
