Great video thank you for sharing I been thinking of buying this kimber 1911 10mm but I seen a lot of videos on KZbin with the same feeding problems and here in california that 1911 is around 1,500 and to have those issues I think it's not worth it I have 600 dollars 1911's and they work perfectly.

That's my feeling as well. I have a couple of Tisas and a RIA 10mm. They are 100% reliable with a wide variety of ammo types, just like my Sig P220 10mm Legion. Not one failure even from the first round fired at the range. That said, I'm not a fan of the RIA because of fit/finish/trigger feel, etc. But it's a reliable gun at least. Why can't Kimber do that?

Easy fix... Putting in a stronger recoil spring and a lighter hammer spring fixes any feeding issues 100% of the time on any of my 1911s.
@nonyabiz94872 жыл бұрын
I think the biggest problem with Kimber 10mm semi autos is not the pistol but the ammo. All the target ammo is junk under powered and basically 40 S&W. The problem comes with the huge difference in shooting quality when you switch to an actually 10mm self defense round that is more powerful. It makes changing recoil springs to accommodate your pistol ammo more prudent. Ive had to do the same thing with 9mm 1911s.

Here’s one for ya, my custom II 10mm I can load .40 cal from dropping the slide release, but I can’t load it like that with 10mm rounds. It also shoots both flawlessly. With 3 different kinds of mags. Seems like Kimber’s quality control is all over the place, because all these different functioning pistols with weird quirks means stuff is out of spec. For a high end pistol company they need to fix it.

I had one. I love how it looks how it feels. It’s a beautiful 10mm and I put 800 rounds through it . Failure to feed each mag. I sent to kimber it was an easy process. They returned it and still jammed. I had to make the difficult decision of replacing it with a Glock. Very unreliable for me. It’s basically useless if you take camping/hiking.

Fail to feed every few rounds. Had two squib incident on two different occassions after only about 50 rounds with two different brand of ammo (Sig and Grizzly). Is it the gun or ammo? Dunno. Yes, still new, break-in period, etc.....Recently, l changed the grip to slim grip to get a better grip, changed kimber 18.5# recoil spring to wilson combat 22#, and polised the ramp, etc. Last range, better results. Three mags with only one FTF using Ammo Inc. 180gr FMJ. I will continue to break it in and see what happens.

Mine worked flawlessly through 100 rounds of Blazer 180 grn right after pickup, kinda. Because of Big Ed and the other gun tubers, I swapped out the recoil spring from an 18.5 to a 20 lb, mainspring 21 lb to a 25 along with a metal housing, and the firing pin stop with a flat EGW. I guess 3rd times a charm since the last 2 SA 1911’s I owned we’re unreliable as Hell even past the break in period :/

24 lb recoil spring should be OK. Kimber probably took it out. Those BB loads need heavy springs. You have to switch out springs when using Underwoods or BB.
@roostershooter763 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised you got ANY of the Buffalo Bore to cycle correctly with the Standard Recoil Spring. Even Buffalo Bore mentions that you need to put a heavier Recoil Spring in the firearm when shooting their ammo. I always keep a 22# Spring in my TRP Operator 10mm pistol, and switch back to the 18# Spring when I'm shooting standard ammo. You are beating the hell out of your frame if you don't have a heavier spring in there. It's also throwing your timing off.

@tomcurran847011 ай бұрын
Yes! A set of recoil springs and the willingness to change them to match the load is mandatory. Those Underwood and Buffalo Bores are hot. I won't even shoot BBs in my revolvers. I only use Underwood's as "bear" loads. A 1911 is not a revolver and a 10 mm 1911 is not a 9 mm Glock.

About a week ago I got my in stock notification for this gun. Bought it. It wasn't cheap either. 2 hours later I saw the video this gentleman produced on how unreliable it is and cancelled the order. Put in notification for the SA Ronin 10mm. I have many 1911s and some came with feeding issues but were solved after 500 rounds or so. Ronin has no guide rod, maybe that's the problem. Kimber is a great company. But my expectations with a $1500 gun are high and I was going to get this one for bear defense while in Montana and I guess I will have to revert to a Glock 20 since I live in Commifornia and the selection and availability of 10mm is slim to say the least. Kimber was what I wanted though but not after this review. Good customer service or not, life on the line in the woods won't mean shit if the damn gun doesn't work.

I wouldn't go with the G20 because of the trigger and odd ball grip angle. Personally I'd prefer a P220 10mm, or even a Tisas 1911 10mm. My Tisas has been completely reliable, and it's cheap.

I'm disappointed. I'm looking at picking up a Kimber 10mm for something different, but had some misgivings based on Kimber's history of unreliability. This video doesn't help that reputation at all. Even after coming back from being fixed there are still multiple misfires. I have two cheap Tisas 10mm pistols, and an RIA 10mm, with literally zero failures of any kind with a wide variety of ammo. I've put about 1500 rounds through all three guns and never had a problem. This includes 220 gr hard cast Buffalo Bore, JHPs, and different brands of target ammo. If I had more rounds through them I'd put them on par with my Sig P220 and P226 Legions. Kimber has some features I like, but if they can't build a gun that's reliable I have to look elsewhere.

Ignoring the greater practicality of the Glock 20 in favor of this Kimber is just about vanity. A 10MM is a tool for when shit gets scary in the woods, and trying to bump up views on your KZbin channel because your gun is sexy doesn't help you when your tiny magazine runs dry and that fucker is still charging.
