Kimber Custom TLE II Review & Accuracy

If you are in the market for a high quality tactical 1911, you might have a hard time finding a better value than Kimber's Custom TLE II (aka the LAPD Swat gun). I’ve had my TLE II FOR three and a half years so far. Roughly 3000 rounds with only 2 fails ( my fault; loose grip). Nice video 👍

I've had my TLE for 14 years and it still makes me look good at the range. Still looks great and is a joy to see, handle, and shoot. I like it so much that I ordered an identical twin to have on hand. I doubt that I'll ever need it!

I have a TLE 2 RL. I like this gun verry much but i had problems in the first 1000 rounds. Failures to feed, stovepipes and the original magazines are garbage. After 500-600 rounds it became much better and now more than 5000 rounds without problem. The coating 9n my gun is not good at all. After a few hundred rounds the coating on the grip was nearly rubbed off completly. A friend did a ceracote finish for me and the problem was solved. The good things: Verry precise handgun, good trigger, sights, the grip feels verry nice, low recoil for 45, verry positiv safety. Would i buy the TLE2 again? Yes but the stainless model.

@@gutadin5 I had the problems with all magazines. Now i use Mec Gar and Ed Brown, they work the best. The TLE2 is now a verry nice gun, the break in period and the verry bad black finish are annoying. My girlfriend bought the TLE2 stainless model and had only 200 rounds to break in her gun. 100% reliable. Have a nice day.

@@lukaszimmermann2215 you said you had the problems with all magazines, did you use wilson mag or tripp cobra mag? These are the best 1911 magazines on the market.

@@gutadin5 I used 8 and 10 round Wilson mags, i had the problems with all magazines. Now my TLE works with all magazines. My next gun will become the CZ P09 or the HK P30LS

@@lukaszimmermann2215 if did not work with all magazines especially wilson mag, the issue was the gun not the magazine.

I've got a TLE RL II, personally I didnt care for the rubber grips I've since got some lok grips and they are fantastic.

I have had allotnof 1911's of various series, I just got a Custom II and the nice thing is the Kimber doesnt effect the trigger pull which is great.

Extended guide rod just makes the gun a little bit heavier, nothing to do with accuracy

Hello, Thanks for the review, I just bought one and don't really like the grip safety. Will a grip safety from a 45 1911 by WC, EB or other company work or does it take a different one because of the particular safety it has. Regards.

Awesome 1911. Before Kimber came out with a statement distancing themselves from a piece of garbage fudd they were being savaged in the comments of a bunch of videos about their quality. I don't own a Kimber but I've heard that their quality has improved. Gr8 vid as usual. 🔫 🇺🇸

I have my Kimber TLE/RL II and have for years and love it. As soon as I bought it scrapped crappy Kimber mags for Wilson Combat Elite Tactical 8 round magazines (500B) and Wilson Combat 10 round (47-45FS10B) magazines. I have done some mods to it that are cosmetic (chrome accents) but the internals are stock. First day out took 500 rounds out with me and no issues. Since the I can only recall one issue where it failed to go into battery. Only thing I would like to do now is to get it cut for an RMR as since putting a dot on my carry Glock 19 and SIG P365XL I have really come to prefer the dot. Takes some getting used to but after its pros outweigh the cons.

Kimber uses a Schwartz system. Its not entirely unique to them.

The Kimber military and police series of guns I think are by far some of the best you can have. I've carried the tle RL II, the Tactical entry rl2, and the Desert Warrior for both EDC and Duty use and I honestly cannot complain about them. The only downside of the Desert Warrior series is the Slick front strap but great guns.
