I have a special, 3" wind directional/rotating chimney cap, custom made. See pictures in my blog link above. I can drive down the highway at 70mph with a fire no problem. The chimney cap rotates with the slightest wind and blocks all rain/wind/snow from coming down the chimney flue.

I get a good chuckle that 3 people took the time to 'thumbs down' this video. The information was awesome, presented really well, couldn't ask for more from a free informative video. If you can find something to dislike, it's not the video that is the problem...

I agree completely, I would never shell out that kind of cash for a wood burning piece of bling. So i would give the stove price a definite thumbs down, but I also liked the video and thought the producer had done a good job so I gave it a thumbs up. Take care.

Yeah, the video was fine, if a bit skimpy on facts (clearances, type of pipe, etc). However, the installation is completely illegal as a violation of the manufacturers' instructions in several ways, if not also NFPA 211 code.

What in the world does this stove offer that makes it worth over $4,500? A wonderfully efficient burns-all little Dickinson Marine Newport stove made of high quality stainless steel and a decades old reputation at one tenth the cost. I'm asking this seriously. What makes this stove worth the price?

The only difference I can see so far is that the Kimberly draws the air from the outside while others draw the air from the inside which is great for small spaces like vans and truck campers but doesn't make it worth 5k. You could modify a Cubic Mini and have the same thing for 400 dollars.

@doormaker2
@doormaker2 8 жыл бұрын
+Rustic By Nature I don't know about this stove but for sure your rig would be heated to the point of needing to open a window or two if you used a Dickinson Marine Newport. I do not sell it, by the way, I say this only as an owner. If you need to cook as well, another $200 (or less) would buy you a Silverfire stove that - again - burns free fuel. Roadside litter can do all your cooking. It's small enough to carry around and put outside for picnics, patio parties, etc. RV trips bring out the Inner BBQer in all of us. Tailgating, picnics, survivor/camping cookouts for families -- the Silverfire line goes the distance. I'm a fan of stainless. I know not everybody does it well. Dickinson and Silverfire do it extremely well. :D

I'm not the Kimberly expert, but I've never known a wood stove you couldn't jack to the wall and then up, as long as there's enough "up" to it. I can see why someone wouldn't want to punch a hole in the roof. Of course, this guy's next-level, with a chimney that works as he's driving down the road!

+Jmaica 777 No such thing as a totally smokeless woodstove. They will smoke when you first light them,smoke for a while when you add wood and smoke if you damp them down too much. Even the crappiest designed wood stove has a "window" of combustion where little to no smoke comes out of the chimney,much like an open campfire will get to a point where there lots of coals/embers, lots of heat and flame and little smoke.If you don't want people to ever see smoke, then your limited to only burning at night or heating/cooking with gas or oil.

+Elaine Hutchison There are many posts out there about the Kimberly, Dickenson Newport, or Mini Cubic stoves installed in RVs and Airstreams. You have to give it clearance around it, good foundation, and vent for chimney. I think too, to be safe, you must have your Co2 and CM and smoke detectors installed, and leave a vent open for fresh oxygen, no matter what anyone says.

Adsolutely no justification for this stove due to its being way,way. WAAAAY! overpriced for what it is. There are several other small/micro wood stoves on the market, which I also would consider overpriced, are only a fraction of the cost of a Kimberly . In terms of heating an RV or even a small cabin which are inherently poorly insulated and drafty things, paying a fortune for a wood stove on the basis on how "amazingly efficient" it may be is just throwing your money away. I could walk into just about any metal/machine shop and for about $500+- bucks get a perfectly good metal box, custom designed no less for the possible limitations of space inherent in an RV, with adequate heat shielding to stuff wood into and burn and I'm willing to bet I wouldn't use a huge amount more wood than the Kimberly. The Kimberly installed costs seem to average between $4000 and $5000. Even a basic full size house oil,wood/oil combo or gas furnace doesn't cost that much.Would I ever buy the Kimberly? no thanks, I'd rather have my custom $500 box and have $4000-$4500 to save or spend on other things.Hell, at present prices in my area, for 8 foot length delivered hardwood, $4500 would buy me approx. 56 cords of firewood. For the sake of argument, lets say I burned 3 cords a year to heat a small RV, It would take me almost 17 years to burn 56 cords.
@Rick_Sanchez_C137_
@Rick_Sanchez_C137_ 4 жыл бұрын
Martin Sorra So where is the video of the box you had made in the metal shop for $500? Does the video show it burning for up to 6 hours and not getting overly hot on the sides? It’s been four years, you haven’t made a video because you can’t do what you claimed.... is the Kimberly expensive? YES! but the fact is, no other stove of similar size does what it can, and your bs claims of being able to get one made for a measly $500 is a lie that you can’t back up. If you have any comments, make them in your video about getting the stove made in your local metal shop, or keep it to yourself.

At $4,000.00 the name should be changed to "The Yuppirly." LOL. Folks, there are so many great Rocket Mass Heaters and Stoves out there and the indoor technology for their use is growing by leaps and bounds. The fuel that makes this stove run is financial greed.
@terrapulse1925
@terrapulse1925 6 жыл бұрын
They got more greedy, it's $5,000 now. The videos are nice to look at, but I think they're actually doing a dis-service for the rest of the people, because the company that sells these stoves enjoy the ratings that the videos make and think, "Hmm, maybe we can increase the price another $1k?"." It is financial greed. You can get a mobile home lower than that price. It's their way of perhaps making mockery at the whole tiny house type of living so people can save money. This is NOT saving money. P.S. That's ASIDE from the installation parts - think. Btw, AlaskaCreeker, I subscribed only because I liked your video. As for the price of this little stove, well, the company will have to wait a long time, lol. And if they weren't so greedy, think of all the sales they could make, because the market is big right now for stoves like this - and the company man sitting around the table figuring the price is definitely not thinking this through wisely. I would buy it at $1,000, definitely NOT $5k.

This is one of the most efficient wood stoves I have ever used. It is a niche stove, designed to fit in the smallest of spaces and have very small clearances to walls. Some people are sticker shocked, but as the old saying goes... you get what you pay for. There isn't a regulation approved & certified wood stove out there that matches exactly what the Kimberly stove provides. 56 lbs. 10" footprint. 2" tall. Absolute minimal clearances. Unbelievably efficient and puts out a surprising amount of heat for the amount of wood that fits in the firebox. If you are looking to purchase one or have any further questions, email me at kimberlystove@gmail.com I personally own a Kimberly and use it as my sole source of heat in my little Toyota motorhome, and I still wouldn't choose another stove over the Kimberly. I saved my money up and made an investment that will last me for years to come, and I'm very pleased with my stove (www.timmystoyota.blogspot.com)
