Points also for mentioning Anal Cunt. That was the shit when I was like 16. I went to see them live when they were supposed to visit Finland once. Seth Putnam however couldn't get into the country for some reason and we had to content to a Russian alternative called Anal Nosorog playing AC songs. They were just supposed to warm up with their own material. The gig was pretty great however. The band put several vodka bottles in circulation in the crowd and all, but I still wish I had seen AC.

Before anyone gets confused, I will say that this man did a great job with the review and all. But kimble, dude, did you really think that the message of Postal 1 was something along the lines of "humanity is a disease"? Bruh, that was the Postal Dude's twisted REASONING of why he's shooting the shit out of everyone, not what was actually happening, there's no disease killing everyone, he just thinks there's a disease out there and he thinks if he murders all of those who were "infected" ie, anyone who attempts to shoot at 'em, the "plague" will be gone. In all honesty I'm pretty sure there isn't any true message and I'm also kinda sure they were planning to release at a time where spree killing was often to get some controversy fuel and bath in the cash that the fuel would bring in, or at least, that was there plan I'd assume, because like you said, it didn't really sell all too well. Guess they might of thought with some logic that was way ahead of their time you could say. *cough* Hatred *cough* BUT ANYWAY, great review on the series and all, but the way you were thinking on the logic of Postal 1 made me cringe a little and I wanted to put my explanation on what the logic actually was behind Postal 1 and all that jazz.
@grinnvision61778 жыл бұрын
+Jordan Harland I completely agree that some things were misrepresented about Postal 1, not just because I personally enjoyed growing up with it and even beat it on difficulty 11 like a loser fangirl, but because I felt the theming and art direction it took were honestly underrated and well done. Every level and loading screen was hand painted and the game's sounds from those screens, the in-level ambiance, the npc's, they were as the reviewer admits: "disturbing"- you can't say the game fails at *everything* when it's theme is successfully dark enough to disturb you, something the developers obviously intended. It's totally understandable why it didn't sell well and why most people wouldn't enjoy a game with dated graphics, clunky controls, mass murder and a sense of humor that's only based in cruelty (arguably unlike the second Postal) but credit where credit is due, call it a bad game if that's how you feel, but don't say it fails at everything. It sure as hell succeeds in being unsettling and getting the player into a 'mood'. It also did not require you to kill civilians to pass the levels, that just shouldn't have been stated in the video. Other than that, I enjoyed this review and and I think it was a cool perspective to take a walk down the memory lane of Postal, rather than focusing solely on one of it's games.

+ilyriandevil ...not to mention that your point would be better received if you could properly support your argument, by, IDK...spelling it correctly? You can say the smartest, most true thing EVER to a hostile audience, but if you type it like a 3rd grader who flunked all of their Spelling and Grammar exams, no one will take you seriously -- and for good reason. You must demonstrate that you are someone who _can_ be taken seriously before you *will* be taken seriously, and generally, people who can be taken seriously also know how to spell the likes of "regressive left didn't exist" (rather than "regresive left dident exsist"). I mean, really, what's your excuse, man? It surely can't be that you're on some sort of mobile device, because on a modern device, it actually takes MORE effort to type that shittily poorly. It can't be that you can't access the '.' key because you use it elsewhere. Similarly, it can't be that you can't access your "Shift" key because you use capital letters elsewhere, too... Yeah, I actually _DO_ agree with your point, however, my agreement with you would be a *HELL* of a lot easier to defend in public if you actually made it appear as if you actually _could_ pass third grade English exams if you so desired. ...and that's not even to mention the stereotype of people holding this viewpoint being uneducated children! Your post does little to nothing fight against that bigotry, and, in fact, only seems to re-enforce it to those who do not already agree with you.

I'm pretty sure they still have a crack on their forums, but back then, I actually had to edit a setting in the registry just to run the game. I've tried playing Postal a couple times, but I could never get comfortable with the weird controls. I appreciate what they were trying to do, giving the player the freedom of movement from an FPS game, but those controls don't work very well in an isometric action game. I would have much preferred traditional joystick controls where you face and shoot in whatever direction you're running. It might be more limited, but it's much easier to deal with. I really liked Postal 2 and the add-on, Apocalypse Weekend though. It got a little unstable in the later levels, but that might have just been my system not being able to keep up with everything that was going on. My only complaints were the relatively long load times between different areas and the fact that each area reset each time you left it and came back. There was one section of town where I'd encounter the same two library protestors every time I went back there. Kind of spoils the illusion that it's a living world when you keep encountering the same characters in the same positions every time.

+1ex1uger They go wayyyyyyyyyyyyy further back than Lieberman. The Judas Priest trial ring a bell? The D&D scare? The difference is, the so called opposition to SJW's now wants us to consider conservative right wingers (not Lieb, though, being that he's a liberal) our comrades in arms and not the same guys who proclaimed how I was being inducted into a Wiccan cult by playing D&D.
@1ex1uger-prank-calls8 жыл бұрын
The D&D and heavy metal scare of the 80s was more of a conservative Christian movement than one instigated by the regressive left, but in all practically, it doesn't matter. They all act like fascists by denying choice and freedom by posing as moral crusaders. Whether it's the likes of Jerry Falwell or Anita Sarkeesian, the end result is the same: a race to the bottom. The only thing that differs is the phony cause to which the race is dedicated.

Simon Leary Doesn't the extreme left do that too, what with Lieberman, Al and Tipper Gore, and Hilary Clinton trying to use the government (supreme authority) to censor, limit access to, or outright ban movies, music, and video games they deem inappropriate in the name of whatever extreme leftist cause happens to be in vogue at the time? Sarkeesian and the third wave feminists portray embrace a cult of victimhood, insisting that their problems will never go away without the state taking an even more active stake in regulating society.

I think its kind of weird how some people get offended by certain things. I know its a touchy subject for people but I'm looking forward to Hatred. People that think its distasteful yet play WW2 games, COD and yet watch slasher movies and the like really need re-balancing. Speaking as someone who has been in several warzones I do not find these games in any way offensive. In fact I rather enjoy them. Hmm maybe its me, maybe the supposed "nobility" of killing is indeed about the person or persons never the crime. That was brutally unfunny. When you were talking about the first game Hatred had come to mind before you mentioned it near the end. While the tone of Saints Row is vaguely similar I think it's executed far better and doesn't lean on being offensive to different kinds of people. Whereas it seems Postal kind of tries to offend everyone but does so by resorting to cheap stereotypes.

I had loaded on a demo disc, I'm not sure but I think it was on the brown disc that came with my PS but I may be wrong. It was the full first level but they gave you my least favourite player, the man baby. My friend actually got the full game and although it got repetitive it was pretty fun in small doses, I remember picking the bloke with the two flintlocks, Captain Hands? It was something like that, my mate would be the bouncer with the metal jaw and the double rocket launcher, good times.

Jimmy Jarrett Postal was not on playstaion. You are thinking of a completely different game.
