The choreography in this is awesome. Kimbra's dancing in her other stuff has been described as "adorkable" but here she's totally sinuous and sinister-sexy. She also has a chameleonlike quality. You just tweak her hair and makeup and she looks like a different person. Compare her look here to the "Settle Down" and the "Miracle" videos.

"You've got your reputation and your good intent" (insert sarcasm here). Hands down, Kimbra, is one of those rare artists, who skillfully demonstrates the water to wine effect, as everything she belts out is a timeless flow of brilliance-a needed enhancement to the palate of mainstream music..love it!

Everything about this music video is flawless. The story, the dancing, the characters, the smooth and jazzy beats, it's all too perfect for words. Kimbra really is a unique and different character, and she knows how to portray it well. One of the many reasons why she's my favorite artist.

This gal has buckets of creativity, just pouring out of her. Gal is way way way way more talented than just a pop singer and way more talented than just about everyone else out there. She is the real deal. Tons of folks pretending to be what Kimbra really is. She is in the same league with the greats like Bjork and Amy Winehouse. I would love to see her do a full album of just jazz standards. She would just crush that stuff. Too bad Tony Bennett is gone, because he would have LOVED to do an album with Kimbra!! Enormous talent.

Basically here's what's happening in the video: If you'll notice, at the beginning of the video, the penny changes into a wedding band symbolizing that the marriage is worth a penny (or not worth much). Then it shows her at the beginning looking at a necklace (which she probably got from her husband seeking her forgiveness for being unfaithful to her.) Both her and her husband are wearing three different outfits (her in one black which is the real her) and one in white and one in red. He is wearing 3 different outfits, gray (which is his real self), white, and black. Him in the white suit represents him (I'm assuming within his mind) needing to do the right thing, and him in the black suit is his temptation to be unfaithful to his wife. If you'll notice, she keeps looking at the necklace, deciding If she's going to forgive him which by the end of the video we don't know. Both sides of her (the innocent one in white, and the version of her in the red dress which is her being angry and unforgiving pull at her when she gets up at 2:00) It's a very interesting video and story! I love it!
@LnPPersonified11 жыл бұрын
Really? I took it to mean he was a married man skipping out on his wife to go be with the singer. Note how his dancing in the alley was evocative of an internal debate as each side pulled him first one way and then the other. But I suppose this is one of those videos that's open to interpretation, which I love.

Basically, the ring is a Cameo to Plain Gold Ring
@mitchelllabanowski610811 жыл бұрын
I saw that the getting married means change which is why it was a coin then a ring. The woman was contemplating giving up her old self for marriage white dress or continuing to be promiscuous. Red dress. The man was running out of time maybe to tell her he loves her. And was tempted to just leave and be with other woman or stick to the plan and tell her. Amoung other things

i love the way that she looks at her husband differently with each dress she’s wearing and what it represents. in the red she’s angry and resentful for his infidelity. in the white she’s loving, reaching, and wants to forgive him. in the black she’s coy and can’t decide how she feels about him, distancing herself.

We expect a rhyme to the line "the Lakers on the prowl but you've pulled his STRINGS" But then the next line is: "One false move and soon you're playing dice for a..." AND THEN THE NEXT SONG IN THE ALBUM (and the very next phrase she says) IS: "Plain Gold Ring" I have listened to this album so many times, and every time it is confirmed to me why it is my absolute favorite.

Good Intent has a classic 1950’s Broadway show feel that was prominent in movies during that era. I also like that Kimbra shows us that she’s not just a cool face, she worked hard to learn those dance moves and pulls them off well. She also spends a lot of time and effort on the over all video, notice that its not just shot all in one green room while some effects technician dose all the work. More excellent work from Kimbra and her people, I am not surprised… CLASSIC!

You heard the crickets of the early eve They lurk around the opening in two's and three's Clementine told you not to move with the breeze I'll take you down to places where we dare not speak The red light in the doorway says she's armed But boy go try your luck and you might get pass Step into the dwelling of the liger's mouth Peer into the panic for a kick and swell You know you shouldn't be there but it's way past bed There's comfort in the fingers of your good intent You know you shouldn't be there but your money's all spent You've got your reputation and your good intent Your good intent Out to feed that habit when you've sowed that seed Nothing made you feel out of the ordinary But the air turns sombre and the night took heed Took you on a waltz of hypocrisy She broke your bones, now you're lying in the dirt The shadow of a hunter under your torture It's not enough to say, it's not what's in your heart You've tainted every moment till death do we part I know you didn't mean it, boy you meant so well The pennies are cascading down your wishing well I know you didn't mean it when you counted to ten You're slipping through the fingers of your good intent I know you didn't mean it, though you meant so well The pennies are cascading down your wishing well I know you didn't mean it when you counted to ten You've got your reputation and your good intent Such a good intent It's not enough to hope for the best It's not enough to lie there on a breast The liger's on the prowl now you've pulled its strings One false move and soon you're playing dice for a-

Sauzels The Red one is mad because she knew what the husband did. The husband is cheating on her. The white one is the wife who wants to believe her husband and be good for him. The Black is the one who is present tense, and her normal self. Basically a mix of both red and white. The Red/black husband wants to be with other woman. The white husband wants to be a good husband. The original/normal/both is...ya you get it. Also, the penny in the beginning is a sign of their marriage only being worth a penny.
