Honestly, i bought my own snowboarding gear before i even got better. It's so much easier to learn on your own gear and get better on your own gear than rentals. The guy I'm seeing now, I met him while I was learning, and he was the one who advised me to buy my own stuff if I'm serious about learning. So I did. He helped me pick out everything. And it's been half a year since then, I honestly fully agree with him. I learnt so much faster because I had my own gear vs rentals. Rentals are the WORST. If you can't afford it, I would suggest starting with your own boots. That's what I started with and it's such a game changer. Boot rentals are so bad. Having your own boots molded to your foot makes a huge distance while riding and being able to ride for a longer period of time! Snowboarding is very hard to learn if you're not committed to it. I'm surprised someone told you to walk down the mountain, but like honestly I hated skiing when my dad "tried" to teach me when I was 11. I'm so in love with snowboarding. Snowboarding is life now. I will pass on this that I've been told before I started learning, "Snowboarding is hard to learn easy to master. Skiing is easy to learn hard to master." And it's so true! But I love the fact you showed the snowboarding shop in the beginning. It's one of my goals to be able to ride in Japan, def taking the bf with me xD. We're both huge nerds.

yeah Eric got his stuff and he can't snowboard well but its exactly as you say, its easier to get used to your own gear. I think I will rent for the first time because Im not sure if I will actually enjoy it as I absolutely hated skiing. The skiing instructor totally gave up on me and told me to walk down the mountain because I couldnt even stand for 5 seconds, so yeah I walked down haha. I agreed to give snowboarding a shot so sometime in January I'll be going!

I tried to win that anya and bond figure and gave up, with the claw games they are set to ‘pay out’ after you have put in a set amount, you can tell when you are getting close to winning as you can see it grabbing a bit tighter, I suppose this is so they aren’t just giving them away, with this in mind I tried to play on the ones that other people had already played and I won a bond teddy for 100yen and the matching anya for 1500 ish.

Oh you can actually ask the staff to help you in Japan. If you have already spent a bit then they will move it to make it easier and will help you.

ah you can't put suica on your phone if it's not a Japanese android unfortunately. You can put a suica on any iphone though
