And you can tell he REALLY means it. At no point in his career he downplayed the cars he drove to look better himself, he acknowlodged his own mistakes and never said anything negative about the people beating him at the time. A lesson for many others.

Wow!! After 20 years… Listening to Kimi talking for almost 6 minutes straight has been the most emotional moment for me as an F1 fan. What a goodbye gift for all of us!! Enjoy your retirement pal… very well deserved!!

It takes a strong person to be satisfied and grateful with the life they’ve been given, and not worry about others’ opinions or their own posterity. Just another way that Kimi is unique.

This made me emotional. I remember being so in awe of him while being a little kid, and that never changed. Even though it pains me to say, this chapter is over... but the memories will always be there. I'm glad I've seen your career Kimi and I hope you enjoy your life with your family. You definitely deserve it.

I'm a grown man and im crying over a man leaving formula 1. I cant even really describe why, but its just heartbreaking to see kimi leaving f1. He's been a driver my whole life and I knew this day would come, but its still awful to see him go. Gonna be a very sad day tomorrow. I'm really gonna miss him.

You’ve been competing in F1 longer than I’ve been alive, so I can’t imagine how empty the grid will feel without your presence next year… I think I speak for everyone when I say you’ll truly be missed. What I'll remember about Kimi is him being an absolute weapon for McLaren. At that time he was one of the best in F1 and I wish he'd got a championship with them.

At least twice he could have easily won the championships. That suspension failure still is a haunting experience.

people talked a lot about Kimis partying but what really strikes me and moves me about this piece is how authentic a person he is, uninterested in superficiality. That is so rare these days and a much valued splendid quality about Kimi.
