I didn't realize that AGT had used it more than once! I don't have cable and don't follow the shows, but I watch plenty of clips and recaps. I stumbled upon Angie Green's audition from 2019 literally TODAY, and immediately after Heidi hit that golden buzzer, I heard this angelic voice sing a line from Iris by Goo Goo Dolls... Well, that was enough for me! I went on a mission to find out whose voice I'd heard, and thanks to the internet sleuths before me, it was simple to find, and I'm so grateful! This cover hits so differently than the original, which isn't necessarily so easy to come by, especially with such a well known and popular favorite. Kina took my soul on an entirely different journey than I expected. As a rule, I don't listen to covers of my favorite songs/artists, assuming no one can do them justice. This cover is a MAJOR exception. Not that's it's "better," per se. But Kina made it her own to the extent that it seems like it's almost not even the same song. Plus, this version seems so versatile. Within this comment section alone, I've seen folks talk about using it in weddings, while others say it made them feel something when they were too numb/depressed to feel anything at all. I've found folks who have been touched by this and felt less alone at their rock bottom of life. Others have played this version at funerals or to help with their grief of a loss. I hope to see this beautiful young lady go far in life. Talent, passion, technique, control, work ethic... Can't wait to see what the future brings! (Meanwhile, I'll binge all her older videos. Thursday (February 10th) will mark exactly three years since we woke up to find our four month old son had passed away from as SIDS during the wee morning hours and.... Well, obviously, we'll NEVER recover. And what you've said about how the pain never ever lessens, but you learn to live with it is one thousand percent correct. I've heard many parents say the same thing after loss, but of course it's not exclusive to losing children, it could be any loss of a close personal loved one. I struggled to try to plan a service and find songs that "fit," but ultimately we had a private viewing and I rocked him and loved on him for hours. Only myself, my husband, and my aunt present. I'm glad we did what we did. As the weeks became months, and months has now become almost three years, I've only found maybe a handful of songs that I feel "fit." After being a Goo Goo Dolls fan from the beginning and Iris being an all-time fave, I heard this cover literally TODAY, for the first time. What a massive difference! I bawled and bawled. It just...
