As far as the character goes, the criticism mostly seems to be that the character design is generic in a way that's been done too frequently lately. Concord was a hero shooter (a game built around fulfilling certain character fantasies) built by a studio with no track record with a $60 price tag in an era where competitive multiplayer titles are all free to play. Naughty Dog is known for making compelling and emotional stories surrounding characters who… get this… ARE NOT MEANT TO BE PLACEHOLDER OR POWER FANTASY CHARACTERS. The stories are meant to be narratives that make you feel various emotions due to the story. Naughty Dog is known for their polish and quality, both of which are already shown here, the animations, the soundtrack, the visuals, the worldbuilding all is phenomenal in that short trailer. That quality will exist even if the story isn’t something that you personally want to experience. There are many people who are excited for the story though, and some people, often find power fantasy games like doom or halo or stellar blade to be generic and boring. NOW don’t get me wrong I recognize the quality in all of those and I fully recognize the subjective nature of that opinion. But it’s about time that TLoU2 and Druckmann haters start to recognize the same.

I like that approach that they wait until they are more in development to do the reveal so they don’t set themselves up to fail on expectations somewhat. Doesn't seem hugely original, but neither were Uncharted or The Last of Us and they're amazing games. I'll wait to see what the gameplay's like before making any judgements but retrofuturism will always be cool and the graphics look amazing at least!

I think 1 note that flew under the radar was that this isn't a space bounty hunting game. The player is trying to escape 1 scary monster planet. So we might not get that space cowboy vibe we are wanting.

@@alextownley9388 I can kinda see what the original commenter is saying though. In the trailer they talk about how no one has been able to leave this planet that the protagonist is looking to go to. Naughty is also known for making games that are relatively linear (with pathways for exploration down the pre-determined path). I think it would be cool if there were some space exploration, but I can also see an outcome in which we're a little more terrestrial than we're expecting here. Just too early to tell, it's all conjecture at this point.

That’s 100% incorrect. Anthony Newman who worked on the Uncharted series and is still with Naughty and if i’m not mistaken he’s lead director in some department of ND. Go watch or rewatch assuming you’ve seen the Naughty Dog documentary they put out regarding their work on Part 2, crunch, the studio environment which will show 2023 dated towards the end of the video displaying some dev’s talking on the studio currently and Anthony was there then and still is. Travis McIntosh worked on Uncharted 2 (was a lead programmer on the game) and is in a behind the scenes video “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves “Mastering the Cell” BTS#6 he was also in the documentary from earlier this year I spoke on and is still with the company! I don’t get why some of you guys make statements that none of the dev’s who worked on the previous ND games no longer work at the studio when that’s clearly a lie. Obviously some have left, Evan, Bruce, Josh, Richard, Christophe, Amy and others whom we’ve seen or haven’t seen who’ve gone onto other studios within Sony and the industry as a whole. But there are still people besides Neil who’re there who worked on the Uncharted series and the original Last of Us who know the celebrated name and treasured history of ND.

This game looks incredible, and with the backing of such a great developer, it will most certainly win GotY. Oh, you want my real thoughts? I’ll never purchase this game, nor will I watch a single pixel of it through someone’s Let’s Play. I will forget about it a few weeks after it launches, and soon the rest of the world will join my apathy towards it, as it craters down the Top Ten list into obscurity. All of the shills, like the people on this KZbin video, will move on to the next dumpster fire, and I’ll be happy enjoying my Nintendo Switch 2. “Naughty Dog” will go back to being just a phrase people use to scold their pets, and will never again be a titan in the gaming industry ever again.

After all the hype surrounding Naughty Dog's next game they have released a trailer that looks generic as hell and just like every other space based game out there. The protagonist is unlikable because of her sassy, girlboss nature that is becoming an alarmingly common occurrence in recent times. I was a huge fan of The Last of Us Part II (it's my all time favorite video game) but that doesn't mean I don't acknowledge it when Naughty Dog releases something underwhelming. It's not female protagonists people are against, it's the ideology behind them. She is sporting a look which denotes a certain belief system. And at least half of America simply aren't down with that belief system. You can say they're wrong for thinking that way, but it's incorrect to assume their dislike for the game is simply because she's a female character.
