I think it plays weird for a lot of people because by and large, the movies were VERY hit or miss. I mean, out of 14, maybe half of them are truly good or great movies, while the others are considered bottom of the barrel. Collectively, I don't think they're that beloved. But yeah, despite the hilarity and the fact that they did straight up say "fuck you, Fox" in the movie, it's clear that the BTS stuff at the end was meant to be sentimental. Despite the bad that came out of those movies, without them, we arguably don't get a lot of the goodness we get now. And both Ryan Reynolds and especially Hugh Jackman owe a HUGE debt to these movies for either jump-starting or giving their careers big shots in the arm. As for showing stuff from even the maligned entries, it is what it is. That's part of the legacy of the Fox-era Marvel films. Again, without some of those failures, we don't get the entries (MCU or not), that DO get it right.

I just disagree with the sentiment that this movie was ever supposed to "fix" or "course correct" the MCU. Aside from the TVA and where most of the movie is set, this movie has nothing to do with the MCU and by the end Deadpool isn't IN the MCU. I think the core fundamental message of the movie, aside from being a live letter and a true sunsetting on most of the Fox Universe movies, is that Deadpool doesn't have to be a part of the MCU to matter. He can be over here and they can be over there and he still be important. He doesn't have to make a new home in "616" to feel like her matters because ultimately what you loved about the last two films "his entire world" are all in his universe. Obviously Deadpool and Wolverine will come back for secret wars and whatever else. But I don't think this is like major setup for anything other than the end of the Fox stuff. And maybe we find out why Thor was crying in Secret Wars. Also the BTS of the Fox stuff was great and I felt like the end credits scene of Johnny saying that stuff he said he didn't was hilarious. I didnt need anything more than that.

While I don't necessarily disagree, the fight scenes here aren't great for the same reasons the action is great in John Wick, where it's more of the point. They are great because they punctuate character dynamics (amidst strong chemistry) and serve the story. They also function in their given scenes as a means to escalate clear conflict - as opposed to being spectacle or in a lesser movie, even filler. It's why the fact that the CGI teeters on "serviceable" in the oner at the end isn't important, because what's happening is that our heroes are working together and it's more than earned and they are completing their respective arcs.

for me as a massive *X-Men* fan since shildhood, this movie was everything i wanted and more. *solid 5/5.* the story was smaller in a good way, the stakes were personal for everyone, the meta-within-meta within-meta was chef's kiss & it has as much heart as it had laughs. as much as they mocked Fox & Disney, they showed so much love for the characters and their stories, successes and failures over the last 24 years. when *Elektra* walks in, then *Blade,* then *Gambit,* our whole audience was so pumped to see them again, then we lost our collective shit when *Laura* appeared as well - i hoped for all of these, and never thought it was gonna happen. the one whish i didn't get was seeing *Gwenpool* as well... i loved *Gambit's* sadness at not being able to have us get to know him (due to his film being scrapped). i loved the subverted car scene where instead of *Laura* yelling at *Logan, Logan* was yelling at *Deadpool.* i love that we got to see *X-23* & *Gambit* in action! i love that they kept *Wolverine's* mask super-goofy as it always embarrassed him, but now that costume's all he has left to remind him of his family, he pulls himself together and wears it with pride to honour them in the final act; and they absolutely nailed that campfire scene with *Laura* and *Logan* - *Logan* letting out his pain, and *Laura* talking about Hugh being the wrong guy "until he wasn't", as much as she was talking about *Logan.* so happy to see them both find a new family with *Deadpool's* at the end... and then the beautiful BTS footage from all the *X-Men* films & *Logan* during the credits was the perfect send-off for the Fox era. it's not a perfect film, but it's a film i already love dearly. they all cared so much about what they were making and it shows.

I think people are missing the point. What made this Wolverine the worst was the fact that he didn't want to be apart of "the Xmen team" and wear the suit until they were all dead. And that's them commentating on how Fox didn't want to accurately potray the Xmen to their fullest potential or even have them wear the suits because they "were too cool" to even give the fans/the humans what they wanted until it was too late
@infinitybelt6 ай бұрын
That's exactly it, and as usual the KF crew misses key details and complains about things they are ignorant of. Everyone out here saying they didn't flesh out enough aren't paying attention. He was a drunk who didn't want to fully join the X-men and be part of the team. They all died from an attack while he was away getting drunk. He goes into a furious rage of revenge to kill all those responsible... And those that were not (heavily implies killing innocents). He not only has survivors guilt, but just raw guilt for not being there for his family when they needed him and further letting down their memory by killing. It's all in the movie. Why must modern audiences be shown everything to understand the nuance?

8.5-9/10 for me is where I’m standing after 1 viewing. Really loved it. Small issues but not enough to make me stop smiling the whole time. My theater went crazy for the 4-5 cameos/returns. I guessed it was Chris Evans when I heard the voice and I immediately went “it’s not Cap him it’s Fantastic 4 him”. Loved all the different Logan variants we see and I popped hard for the Henry Cavill cameo and now I want him as the MCU Logan so bad 😂 I know for a fact Channing Tatum had fun doing this, he’s always popping up as cameos but this was his best yet, and obviously the shots at how he wanted to play him and it never worked out. Main villain isn’t great but I think she did great with what she had and the little time she had. Last person I ever expected to do a marvel cameo was Jennifer G. Was absolutely shocked by her. Then seeing Blade and Snipes I was like “alright wtf. Who else is coming?”. A few action shots felt like it was cutting a bit too much or felt like it was made for 3D. Wish we got more detail on what exactly Logan did to be the worst one, we got the gist but I would have liked more.

Gambits accent will never not be funny 🤣 still can't believe he finally got to be gambit after being cast such a long ass time ago. This stupid movie got me teary eyed as well near the end. Can't wait to buy the Blu-ray!

Do they draw straws before the show to see who the wet blanket will be lol? Because I can't believe that Nick didn't like this movie.

The mask was amazing. The portal jump was a time dilation sequence and it was well executed, meant to elevate and bask in our minor supporting roles. This chemistry wasn't just natural it was polished consciously to a tee. Very rare. The minor supporting cast in the last act isn't fan service, they serve the themes and the plot. They are outcasts and underdogs, you shouldn't "care" - it's more wholesome than typical celeb "cameos". That's the joke with Evans, we are subverting gratuitous fan service by actually telling a heartwarming story and giving these roles some purpose (comedy, plot advancement or expo). Deadpool wants to be a part of a team - legacy, redemption. This movie was well written insofar that it wasn't overwritten and knew what it had and doesn't get in the way of it. The result is pure entertainment in the ilk of Planes Trains and Automobiles, but with two comic book characters brought to life. The third act is telegraphed in the opening scene, our titular characters both get full arcs and it builds to catharthis when our heroes unite and it's earned. We basically never leave DP&W, they get monologues and conflicts that escalate to purposeful fight scenes that are charming and not bloated. Top 10 comic book movies easily. Yes the showdown at Cassandra's was too shaky when it wasn't spotlighting heroes, it felt very second unit. Best critique here👌 Deadpool 1 and 2 are mid, elevated to pretty good by Reynolds' performance and the faithfulness. They are not that well written, there isn't great chemistry, they are mostly gags and they look cheap in a bad way, namely in setting. 1 deserved the success but they have heart and little else.

Yeah, I just watched it again with my wife and I cannot understand how the entire panel doesn't understand this movie to be a love letter to all the people and passion from the 20th Century Fox Era of films. The TVA douchebag Mr Paradox is an analogy for all the Fox execs who fucked everyone over and didn't give the resistance characters an opportunity to have a proper "ending". I adore this film, it isn't about the MCU, it is all about the Fox Era.

There is a chance that the Sentinel boot piece was a reference to the PS3 Deadpool video game. There is a part in it where Deadpool pilots a boot around as part of the gameplay.

"Channing tatum was rumored to play Gambit" Tatum was officially set to play Gambit, signing on in 2014, but the film went through development hell, going through many directors and pushed back multiple times. In many interviews Channing talks about how far the project is going, his love for the character, and their approach to the film. The films years-long struggle was finally put on hold after Disney acquired Fox. And ultimately canceled in 2019. But yah. Sure. Channing Tatum is only in Deadpool because of a rumor he was meant to play Gambit.

59:00 - Aaron W. Reed (Dude in Free Guy) plays the Juggernaut in Deadpool and Wolverine. Deadpool points this out by saying he is the third guy to play Juggernaut. The first is Vinnie Jones (who said he wouldn’t return for the uncomfortable suit he had to wear), and the other was the CGI Juggernaut from Deadpool 2 (Voiced by Ryan Reynolds)!

I think things like the sabertooth fight feeling flat is in part a joke itself. When you actually think about it why would Sabertooth (just talking movie versions) be able to hand with Wolverine and they showed it, he'd just cut his fucking head off since he doesn't have adamantium.

I think Cassandra Nova is the most memorable Deadpool villain in movies so far.
If you guys Thanos snap the list and start over, I'd still watch along lol but by the time you start, it'll be more then 52 weeks because of next year's movies getting released as well, not to mention you might want to double up a couple weeks if you add in the Blade movies and whatever else.
