Hey everyone! This may be unexpected but this movie has to be one of my favourite Arnold movies. It hit me emotionally in the most unexpected places and I have been thinking about this movie a lot after watching it. Yes... I know it's Kindergarten Cop... but I loved it. Thanks for watching! Have a great day! :)

Your reaction to this film is a reminder that we do not need to watch a cinematic masterpiece to strongly connect to a film. There can be films with noticeable flaws but have aspects or scenes that we strongly connect to nonetheless, and we might not have any explanation for it. When that happens, the flaws are still there, but they seem to matter very little. Others might not like the films that we connect to, and they may even have their reasons, but in the end, I doubt that matters. Great job! 👍

Loved your reaction. I really enjoy Arnie in these wholesome films. I'd recommend "Junior" or "Twins" as well. And you are so right, HEART is the reason why I had the best childhood. Pretty much all the films growing up had heart even if the story wasn't oscar worthy. PS: if you liked the little girl in this, then you should check out "Beethoven" (1992). Another great film with a lot of heart :)

The principal is Linda Hunt, a wonderful, marvelous actor who came to real attention playing a boy in "The Year of Living Dangerously". Often portraying a person of great moral and emotional strength, under-estimated because of her appearance, she has a lovely line of dialogue in the movie "Silverado" after demonstrating the thought: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWPEgmCHa8Zml7s Pamela Reed plays the delightful "wingman" Phoebe. My brother once observed that one of Schwarzenegger's great qualities is that he surrounds himself with intelligent, versatile, gifted actors to support him.

I love Linda Hunt when she gets to play the tough boss lady because she nails such roles. That's a good rating system! I love this movie and have probably seen it 25 times over the years. But on a recent watch, I noticed that John isn't a very good detective. He assumes that Mrs. Sullivan's husband is Zach's father, but she doesn't say that. She calls him "my husband," and John rules out Mrs Sullivan/Zach based on that conversation, when she easily could have remarried after leaving Crisp. It would even make sense that if she had been married to Crisp her next marriage could be abusive as well. It's actually Phoebe who rules out Zach Sullivan when she learns he's not related to Crisp.

This movie, when it came out was a departure for Arnold. It was his first comedy and it became a huge hit, making $202 million worldwide against a productive budget of $15 million. It was a slam dunk, a crowd pleaser. So, it's no surprise that you enjoyed it. It was directed by legendary comedy director, Ivan Reitman. So, forget about Rotten Tomatoes. Some of those scores are skewed. The next comedy he did was "Twins," with Danny DeVito. You should check it out.

You NEED to check out Adventures in Babysitting. The most amazing movie soundtrack of the 80's. It's a lot of fun - and has a very young Penelope Miller in it. I think you would LOVE this :). If you want to listen to another one of the best movie soundtracks - check out Secret of My Success with Michael J Fox. The soundtrack was done by ICONIC Canadian producer David Foster. Don't forget Short Circuit, too! Kindergarten Cop, The Goonies, and Short Circuit were all set and filmed in Astoria. A few other movies (e.g., TMNT3, Free Willy) have used it as a filming location, but those three are the "holy trinity" of Astoria films for me.

Yes, the Goonies house is just a couple blocks up the hill from the elementary school on the east side of town. One of the nice things the production did was they left all the improvements and special equipment at the school to be used by the teachers and students there throughout the years - including a seriously decked out kindergarten room.

Loved your reaction to this movie, as well your reaction to Stand By Me. Your reactions are very heartfelt and genuine. I really like your story about how you kept going back and working with kids at the camp. I have huge respect for people who take the time to work with and help kids. I mentor young boys who need a helping hand in life, and some of them have become very close friends, even as they become adults. The moments that you got emotional in this reaction are the same moments that I get emotional watching this movie too. I enjoyed you enjoying this. :-) In years past, we said the pledge of allegiance every morning at school. Some only say it once a week and it seems many not at all. As far as Arnold just staying and becoming the teacher.....well, you need to get a college degree and now, also a master's degree in order to be a teacher. You even have to be certified in a specific area like grades 2-4 or K-3 etc. To be a substitute you need at least an undergraduate degree. That is until the advent of Covid. In some places they've changed the rules and anyone who passes the background check can be a substitute. They make it tough---so, no, Arnold couldn't just decide to stay. Excellent wrap-up. It is a fun, feel-good movie.
