And now we know what happened after Kirk died. (Or maybe, it is one of the theories...). Star Trek: Unification. :-)

These episodes were after I'd give up on watching DS9 regularly and became a "eh, if it happens to be on" viewer. So now I know what happened to Eddington after his surrender to Sisko. Shrug.

These premiere placeholders are really irritating... Just click publish when I can actually watch the damned thing. I've unsubbed from other channels that do this to try and cut down on the wasted clicks.

And, like with every show when this happens, the show only goes downhill from here now that two of the main characters got married to each other.

Now, that's an amazing movie ! Kinda weird, though, that there is only such a small number of reactions to this on YT, isn't it...?

I have this theory that the animal football scene was originally a separate cartoon on it’s own! Because of how long it goes on for, can you really blame me?

"The dining scene has no relation to the overall plot of the story" The scene establishes the disgusting and degraded nature of the Skekses society, revealing how corrupt and indulgent they are. It also sets up how impoverished and enslaved the Podlings are under their rule, which contrasts the scene in the Podling village where they are shown revelling in enjoyment. The style of The Dark Crystal is certainly slower than a modern film, and it is intentionally open to some interpretation, but there is a lot of ambient storytelling in the slower scenes. I would expect younger audiences to prefer Labyrinth as it's more overtly entertaining and is a more conventional and conservative concept. But The Dark Crystal has something to say about morality, the impact of technology, and the futility of refusing to accept the inevitable. It has a deep a meaningful artistic vision underneath the genre trappings, and is worth revisiting at a later date in order to appreciate it's grandiose pace and scope.

Nice review. You will eventually place this above The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. A few more viewings, as a sliw burner, but not the first time you have seen this. 😉😉😉. Your reading of the key moments gave yourself away, but better than comments from someone who has seen it a few times. I should know, as I have watched this movie over 660 times, more than any person who has ever lived, and shall hit 700 around April.

I thought I'd had every reaction you could have to this episode after quite a few viewings over more than a decade until I rewatched it after becoming father to a son myself. I was shaken for weeks. Seriously brilliant high-concept science fiction and a stone-cold fantastic example of the storytelling television is capable of in 45 minutes.

Ollie In case you didn't know, Michelle was offered the role of Jadzia Dax on Ds9. They thought that highly of her work. But she didn't want to take on a 6 year contract and as a regular cast member, it would have precluded her from taking on any other work, either on film or on the stage.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time, and the muppets chemistry is so perfect because the performers have perfect chemistry. Not to mention the absolute talent of Jim Henson, Frank Oz, Richard Hunt, Jerry Nelson, Dave Goelz, and Steve Whitmire really show in this movie. The acting of Charles Durning and Austin Pendleton really bring it home. Not to mention this is one of my favorite movie soundtracks. The Rainbow Connection, Moving Right Along, I Hope That Something Better Comes Along, and I’m Going To Go Back There Someday are all incredible and make me feel happy. Can You Picture That is also really good. The emotion that the muppeteers bring to the table is also really good, with Kermit’s subtle hand movements showing emotion through felt. Fozzie is my favorite muppet, so seeing his first scene is always a treat. Even the puppeteers with smaller roles did an incredible job and went above and beyond, like Jerry Nelson performing Robin. The original crew of puppeteers will always just be so memorable, even though the newer puppeteers like Eric Jacobson, Bill Barreta, Matt Vogel, and Peter Linz are still incredible.

The bald with a goatee look was how Avery Brooks looked before filming DS9. Production wanted to distinguish him from his other roles outside of Star Trek. I'm glad they let him revert to the look he preferred.

Obviously an epic 6-episode arc. But something hit me recently. Practically EVERYONE on the entire station was in makeup! Cardassians, Jem Hadar, Ferengi, Vorta, Changelings, even Bajorans with their noses. ABSURD! Some other reactors always comment from a production standpoint; can't wait until they make it to DS9 S6.

Well spot the mirror thing. Its a metaphore I guess, as all movies like to establish a paralel between vanity and mirrors. That's were you look into to spot wrinkles, to feel good about your appearance... The mirrors are a pressure presence remembering one expects your reflection to be young and attractive.

If you liked this you need to read the Batman 89 comic. It takes place maybe 6 months after Batman Returns, and instead of Tommy Lee Jones it gives us the Billy Dee Williams Twoface we really should have gotten in the 90s.

Something I noticed on a rewatch of this show a while ago... I was confused by the Prophets referring to Sisko's life as "the game" the first time around. Then, I rewatched the first episode, when Sisko is explaining to them the concept of linear time, and he uses baseball as an analogy. "With each play the game begins to take shape." "And you have no idea what shape that is until it is completed." "That's right! In fact, the game wouldn't be worth playing if we knew how it would end." Right off the proverbial bat, Sisko has defined linear existence as 'the game,' and the Prophets are helping Sisko through his own life at the time. It might have been six years ago for Sisko, but for the Prophets, there is no past/present/future. From their perspective he just told them years ago / last month / yesterday / an hour ago / just now /next evening / tomorrow /next week /three years from now/ etc.

Did I miss something, in TNG it's the reverse, Alexander was sent to live with Worf's adoptive parents, right after K'Ehleyr's death, with Worf wanting him to have a real family and home. Worf's mother, brings Alexander back to the Enterprise in season 5, telling Worf she and his dad are getting too old to keep up with a kid his age, and that he needs his father. From then on, he makes occasional appearances throughout the remainder of the show, so, when did Worf send him back yet again, to live with his parents? Did one of the writers screw up and they just ran with it, because they didn't catch it in time, or what? Also, the time is a little funky, wouldn't Alexander and Worf still be on the Enteprise 5 years ago, even setting that aside and granting it's been 5 years; that means immediately following the last episode of TNG, for reasons unknown, Worf abandoned his kid with his adoptive parents again, leaves and then never talks or messages him in all that time?

The Space Battle in Sacrifice of Angels is one of the greatest of all time. Even decades later, very little compares to it. In fact, the only space battles I would definitively say exceed it are from The Orville. The Orville is another series you should check out when you're done with DS9.
