True Lies by James Cameron is a fantastic film with Arnold and Jamie Lee Curtis! It is a wonderful action/adventure/comedy! "a different side to Arnold." Arnie is a brilliant comedic actor. James freaking Cameron even knew it, and that's why he made True Lies (1994), starring him and Jamie Lee Curtis. It's a MASSIVE budget movie that perfectly combines Arnold's action/macho history with his hilarious comedic skill. an absolute must-see. I think after making The Abyss and Terminator 2, Cameron needed to make something lighthearted, and he nailed it with True Lies. can't recommend it enough

fun fact: A lot of the scenes with Arnold and the kids were naturally filmed, because getting children to sit there and read a script was really hard. So Arnold would just interact with the kids when the cameras were off, and while he was doing it he would occasionally look over at the director, and he would give Arnold a signal that they are indeed now rolling...so scenes where Arnold is just playing with the kids, is actual honest good non scripted play time with Arnold and the kids, and he has said he had a blast making this movie, because he wanted to do a lighter movie between his action movies. So he would do an action movie like Terminator, and then do a calmer movie like Jingle All the Way (which I would highly suggest too).

I remember seeing this in the theater opening weekend, mainly because of the opening scene. You see, I live in Portland, and when the stooge talking to the bad guy mispronounced Oregon, there was a murmuring of boos in the packed audience. Oregonians take that sort of thing personally. So much so that when Crisp shoots him in the chest 30 seconds later, there was a thunderous response of cheers and applause. I solemnly swear that I didn’t make one word of that up.

I second the recommendation of “Twins”. It is one of the funniest movies ever. You’ll love it. Arnie in his prime is the best. 80’s and 90’s Arnie movies are the best. You must watch Bill Burr’s bit “the epidemic of gold digging whores”. Arnie’s story is used in it and it’s freaking hilarious.

This is actually Arnold's favorite movie, whenever he's asked in interviews he always comes back to this, last year some of the kids(all grown up) got together to do a video reunion (COVID) and Arnold also made an appearance, it was so cool seeing him go to each one asking how they are and what they've been up to.

The Principle was played by Linda Hunt. Clearly, great things come in small packages. She has the ability to dominate her scenes without saying a word. She was in "The Year of Living Dangerously" with Mel Gibson and Sigourney Weaver; "Silverado" with Kevin Kline, Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, and Kevin Costner; "Dune" (1984 version) with Kyle MacLachlan, and Dean Stockwell.

Some interesting trivia: this movie is responsible for there being Hummers on the road. Before this movie, Hummers were strictly military vehicles. Schwarzenegger first saw a convoy of military Humvee's drive by on the Astoria, Oregon set. Schwarzenegger had to meet the executives of the military contractor responsible for the vehicles personally, and sign waivers, to acquire one of his own. He gradually convinced the company to design the vehicle for the civilian market, and got his way in 1992.

Aw, I'm so glad you liked this one. :-D I really prefer Arnold's comedic roles. He hasn't done a bunch of them, but he's really good in them. Linda Hunt, who played the principal, IS a tiny woman (4'9"), and an absolutely outstanding actress. She's been remarkable in everything I've ever seen her in. Arnold is 6'2", so it's a heck of a height difference. Every time I'm ill and someone asks me what's wrong my go-to response is "maybe it's a tumor". I've only got one friend who's ever responded (correctly) with "It's not a tooma!" BFFs. Have a great weekend!

So I’m 4’10” AND my maiden name is Short. I had this one patient who was a 7’2” basketball player. One of my colleagues who is normally the picture of professionalism (who had the office next to mine) nearly busted a gut laughing (while gasping embarrassed apologies) when he walked out his door to see my patient and I walking down the hall together. The dichotomy really is funny. My mom’s 4’9” and maybe 80lbs soaking wet and my little brother’s best friend ended up I think 6’11”? We have a picture of him with us back when he and my brother were young teenagers (he was at least 6’5” by 13) and I swear we look like a bunch of Chihuahuas next to a Great Dane 😂
