That's a normal response time when you turn a page or go back to main page etc. When you search for a certain word on Kindle and you have, let's say, hundreds of books: Kindle has to search all through your books for those specific words and give you results. If you uploaded or downloaded books right before making that video - your books wouldn't be cataloged on your kindle yet and that in turn would slow your kindle significantly and drain your battery. Also I noticed you had a WIFI turned on, so a little advice - if you are not downloading a book at given moment - turn the airplane mode on or forget the WIFI information all together. Also dark mode - I wouldn't be surprised if it shows up in one of the firmware updates, if it haven't already. Page refreshes each time you click it - the black screen is a ink refreshing itself - present an all e-ink devices.

Thank you for this! I've also been thinking of getting a screen protector even though a lot of people told me it's not necessary. Maybe it just depends if you're comfortable with or without it, and I definitely will get one. Also the glare doesn't bother me that much if it's matte, it's just minimal compared to the glassy one

I have a 4th Gen Kindle and am thinking of upgrading. I'd prefer the black version, but I hate fingerprints. I also don't think I'd like the look of the white one in a darker case. I like the look of your case, but I'm not into stands/holders and want one that's as think as possible! On the subject of Screen Protectors. Bubbles would drive me mad! 😖 My 4th Gen has been protected (until recently) by the OEM Leather Case, which broke, when I tried to take it off. But, I've had it for 11 years and there's not a scratch on the screen.

You should have just got a used paperwhite 3 in white. It preforms faster and is more crisp than even my brand new paperwhite 4. My paperwhite 4 runs just like your version. It’s so slow and glitchy.

1:47 finally, someone who acknowledges that there’s a weird glitch in kindles 😭 i dont have a kindle yet but all the videos ive watched about it seem to have that black glitch. yet not even one person has mentioned that the screen does that. i thought it was just because it’s being filmed on a camera or something and that you can’t actually see the glitch in real life 💀 edit: i have a kindle now and i now know that the “glitch” thing is called “page refresh” ! i was just clueless about e-ink displays when i commented this before because nobody ever mentions it

it's not a glitch. the screen is just refreshing so that no ghosting is left when you return to your book. it's just the nature of e-ink displays.

I tell anyone who has anything with a white plastic shell to keep it away from sunlight. It will turn yellow over the years ☠️💦 E-readers are slow. My Paperwhite 4, Oasis 1, and Oasis 3 are also slow. It’s the nature of the e-reader. The battery for the Kindle 10 is waaaaaay better than all the other models as a result of this hahah. It’s a trade-off - the faster your device, the more battery power it will use 🔋💦

Many report that their kindles have not turned yellow. It really depends on the type of plastic that is used. I've had mine for almost a year and is still looks perfectly white. Granted, that may not be enough time for it to turn yellow, but I doubt that this would be an issue with kindles.

Just so you know, on the claim in this video than a kindle is more eco-friendly statement, its actually way LESS environmentally friendly using a digital device, compared to a traditional book with paper.... By the time you factor in all the mined materials and the environmental destruction involved in that mining process, plus the emission due to the electricity used to charge and use it for the whole life of the product, it causes way more harm to the planet in the longterm. I'm not here to say don't get a kindle, I'm just stating facts and correcting the mis-information stated in the video.
