Kinetic Sand Casting Aluminum

I've seen it done and want to try it myself so I bought some Kinetic Sand and set out to try and see what the results of casting molten aluminum into it. Having not the best results with my petrobond sand I attempt my 3d printed maker bullion again and I'm not unhappy with the results check it out and let me know what you think

Where u score the k wool at I love kinetic sand get it wet comes back after burn.

Think making the letters on the PLA forms taller would result in sharper returns in the aluminum? I was worried whatever chemicals they put in the sand to make it pliable like it is was going to react badly with molten metal. Should do a video on all the tools past and present you're using to pour. Would be interested in what does what and such. Happy making!

Thumbs up for trying this. I saw this mentioned a few years back regarding casting. Thumbs down, for using it for casting though! I wonder if the gas it releases is preventing it from filling the mold? Did you notice how it was acting like the lotus effect? (It was beading, and did not want to "conform" to the mold) That was really odd.
