In April 2006, thirty-one chimpanzees escaped from the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Sierra Leone and disappeared into the jungle. Leading them was Bruno, an enormous alpha male. He has never been recaptured.
Support conservation in Sierra Leone by buying King Bruno, an illustrated children's book celebrating Bruno's story. Available from www.amazon.co.uk or www.kingbruno.com

What a nice sincere genuine man you are, it is refreshing to know that there are still good people out there like yourself, this film is now 7 years old, I hope Bruno is still alive and happy and living with his own kind. Thank you for the film.

@@hudson7354actually he got what he deserved he killed a human, he literally plotted and schemed and escaped and killed somebody and you people act like he's some kind of wonderful thing. Full grown male chimpanzees are not pets you can't keep them in your house or cuddle them and spoil them and treat them like humans. This man is just as guilty and it disgusts me that even after what he did everybody acts like it's some kind of hero chimp when he's nothing but a savage murderer.

Oh sure, the the unhinged chimp literally plotted and schemed and played that man as a fool and escaped and murdered someone are you serious? Full grown male chimpanzees are not pets it was completely predictable what he did and should have been tracked down and put down!!!

Nice film, mate. No wonder my mom didn't want me bringing home stray cats as a kid. I filmed rescued baby gorillas in Congo-Brazzaville, but thankfully it was too far to bring one home. Thankfully, they are still in the wild.

That wasn’t self defense or protecting anyone. Bruno started everything when attacking the car. From a newspaper in 2006 when the attack happened: “According to zoo officials, citing survivors' accounts of the attack, Bruno smashed the windscreen of the car that took the men to Tacugama with his fist.”

Not so sure it can be described as beautiful. They gloss over in the dialogue but show press clippings of how Bruno and the escapees killed someone and injured one or more others. Chimps are dangerous and violent animals. I think a fair description is that this is a tough and sad story. Not just for the chimps involved but the humans they killed and maimed.

Amazing story of how Bruno was discovered as a baby Chimp and you and your family took such great care of him i think his attack was mostly out of fright and possibly of fear i really don't think he would of hurt 🤕 anyone but I'm no expert on the situation but I sure do plan to buy the book from Amazon and give it a good Reading and then giving it to someone else who might enjoy a Wonderful Storyline. Happy Holidays to Everyone God Bless you All

Na chimps have better memories than humans especially of trauma, they also got all the worst traits in humans! Jealous, angry and never forgive, if a chimp feels hurt by anything or anyone, chimp or human he will never forgive until he seeks revenge!

I love chimps. BUT, the people injured and the person killed when they escaped is on this so called caring man who loved chimps. I never once heard him say he felt responsible and that is the crux of this problem. They are not suppose to be caged or living as pets. It’s a form of abuse. Sometimes human beings can do more harm when they seem compassionate. They live in regions that take human beings hours by boat just to reach an area that then takes hours to hike to reach their homes. That’s where they were meant to live and little by little encroachment on their shrinking habitat by humans are slowly making them extinct outside of captivity. Sad. I hope those chimps are happy and no one else is hurt.

Did you even watch the video? He rescued him from being sold and raised him. They did what they had to for Bruno's good. We will never know what triggered him to go crazy on these humans. Yes, they do belong in the wild, but humans need to stop killing the mothers to take the babies to sell as pets, that is the real problem.
