How is this ceremony ridicilous? The Soldiers are embracing Scottish traditions ans culture and that uniform is part of it, and His Majesty is showing respect to them by wearing a kilt himself. Also every Head of State inspects troops sometime, even Presidents. I guarantee if that was an elected Head of State inspecting the Guards, none of you would be complaining

We checked with them they were the Pipes and Drums of the Royal Corps of Signals, backed by the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. There are fewer bands now available for ceremonial duties and it is unusual not to have one of the Regimental bands, but most are now on active service.
