I agree so much on The Puppet Master being underrated. The songs are extremely cohesive with the story and my goodness the STORY... hands down the scariest and most tragic one he has ever written.

Coming from a somewhat sheltered upbringing i moved out of my parents house and relocated to an entirely different town when I graduated school at 18. One of the first friends I made was a long haired, dark metal loving, fellow musician. I'll never forget the night we were hanging out, playing guitar and he said... "Have you ever listened to King Diamond? " ... Holy sh*t! He sat me down and handed me the album cover to Abigail with the lyrics on it, put on some headphones and cranked that sh*t up! I'd never heard anything like it and I was hooked! We stayed up all night while he played all through Mercyful Fate and King Diamond, explaining everything anyone could want to know about the two bands. Changed the music I listen to forever and my style of playing and writing forever! Thanks Ted, wherever your at buddy!

Posting before watching. My personal favourite is Conspiracy. Production, solos, songwriting and storytelling are all top notch. Guest appearance from KK Downing on the instrumental interlude. Some of Kings most memorable choruses and dramatic moments. Andy Laroque just kills it throughout.

Puppet master was the album that got me into him. So it has nostalgic value for me.took me a while to get into king because at first i didn't like his vocals,I am glad my mate kept relentlessly playing the puppet master and I came round. I also love fatal portrait and the eye.

Ahhh, glad to see you finally got around to this one. I recall saying on the Mercfyul Fate video that King Diamond has a couple "ehhh" albums, but honestly, that's still pretty impressive for a band that's been around since 1985. How many bands are that consistent? Anyway, my ranking: 12. House of God 11. Abigail II 10. Give Me Your Soul... Please 9. The Graveyard 8. Voodoo 7. The Eye 6. The Spider's Lullabye 5. The Puppet Master 4. "Them" 3. Fatal Portrait 2. Abigail 1. Conspiracy I think for me the most overrated King Diamond album is probably The Eye and most underrated would be The Spider's Lullabye. The Eye is certainly a great album, but I liked that The Spider's Lullabye was more stripped back and had more of a focus on intense riffing rather than a more complicated concept album, a lot like Fatal Portrait in that regard. Also I 100% agree with your thoughts on The Puppet Master. GOD that album is fucking good and I'm glad it's getting recognition for what it is: One of the very best albums in King Diamond's discography.

I can definitely see Conspiracy being number 1, it's a fantastic album,but I think Abigail just works better as a concept album. The story is awesome,every song is memorable on its own and it flows really well. Conspiracy as well as Them can drag in places in my opinion. It pains me to see House Of God so low, it's one of my favourites from him. It's not his best,but I think it's pretty strong. Production is lackluster though. Overall I enjoyed this list, especially for having The Eye in top 3,it deserves all of the praise and more

Mercyful Fate/King Diamond is my favorite band / bands of all time. Whether I like Mercyful Fate or King Diamond better depends on the album. I can say this Them/Conspiracy is my number 2 album of all time. To me its kind of a double album since they tell the same story as well as coming so close in time to one another. Other than that I could not rate these albums since I love every album so much.

Man your taste in King Diamond is so close to mine. A lot of the lower numbers in your rating list I actually haven't even heard. The reason mostly being that I feel that Conspiracy is an album that could never become second to any album by any band or artist. Thanks to your video I have a reason to at least take a listen to the other albums in your list. Thank you for just being you and for inspiration to give more attention to more of King Diamond's albums. Also Melissa was a great album but Mercyful Fate really isn't comparable to King Diamond.

The original "Abigail" and "Them" are the best albums by far. But, I know from personal interaction a lot of effort was put into the "Puppet Master," but when he did not win best song for "Give Me Your Soul" he started having health conditions which ended up with cardiovascular surgery, which put him back a good bit of time. In the end, he is still going, and he is a very different person these days. Don't be surprised if you don't get the same level of creative musicianship from him after all the health issues and become a family man. It's time to grant him his due and give him some space.

My ranking for King Diamond albums depends on if we’re talking about the story, the instrumentals or both. For example if we’re talking about instrumentals Abigail has to be my favorite King Diamond album but if we’re talking about story it a lot lower since it a lot less fleshed out then his later concepts

I was never big into Mercyful Fate because I really don’t like the high pitched vocals, but I’m just starting to get into King Diamond after hearing Blood to Walk. It’s so fucking good, and that’s exactly the kind of vocals I would like King Diamond to do. He does the high pitched stuff, but it fits the song and sounds awesome, plus his voice is much grittier than it was with Mercyful Fate. Megadeth is my favorite band of all time and I get a huge Megadeth vibe from that song. Any other recommendations?

I feel "House of God" pushed the line of 'this far and no further' too hard. I thought "Abigail" II 'The Revenge' was a good 4 star CD. I thought "The Graveyard" was actually quite good. I did NOT like "Voodoo" at all. "Give Me Your Soul" was alright considering that King Diamond's voice clearly didn't have the range of former days. (4 stars) "Spider's Lullabye" gets 4 1/2. "Them" 4. I did NOT like "Puppet Master." (too anti climactic) "Fatal Portrait" falls under not too good, and not too bad. I don't care if I never hear "The Eye" again. "Abigail" is a top notch CD. I agree that "Conspiracy" is phenomenal.

from the albums ive listened to (only 6 ) my favorite is them and my least is honestly a tie with spiders lullaby and voodoo. i remember so little from them that they just mesh together for me as not good. from what ive heard its 1) them 2) the eye 3) conspiracy, the story is weak imo or else itd be 2. 4) abigail 5/6) spider's lullaby and voodoo. edit) i completely forgot the graveyard LMAO yeah stick that with the bottom 2

Slight problem...none of my least favorite king diamond albums rate below a 6. House of God, abigail 2 and the graveyard are as well 3 of my least favorite, however I liked voodoo but I can't think of any album I'd put lower !! ?!!! Maybe give me your soul because I think his voice is not completely up to snuff on it due to his health issues ? I may like conspiracy being my #1 or #2 pick for sure sir !!!!🤟🤟🤟🤟

But 99 percent of the population live by the Satanic Philosophy whether they know it or not. As Anton LaVey even told me that Satanism is simply a life philosophy and NOT a religion. Satanism is basically Humanism. Satanism is based on logic and things that are proven which is why it could never be a religion as religion is based on things that cannot be proven. And that’s why I say that these powers of darkness are always welcome in my home. It’s as if the powers of the unknown came and said ‘Hey, we will stay with you and help you.’ That’s what I feel.” When I almost died during surgery I saw my body below as a demon tried to enter my soul and I had to fight him! These things are very real! Personally I do not use electrical lighting at home and on my Satanic Altar or in the studio when I record vocals, only black candles as electrical lighting drives away the spirits and I love having them near me. People who see Satanism from the Christian view point are not treating these powers with respect and that is very dangerous. I once actually summoned a spirit in order to prove they are real to a girl who doubted and Satan came. My wife will not look in our mirror in fear something will come out. In Satanism you are your own God. LaVey felt and I agree that we are all individuals born with different needs and views and so he felt everyone should make up their own mind about what to believe in spiritually if anything at all which is why he left a huge void in the Satanic Bible when it came to spirituality or any kind of religious beliefs and so within the Satanic Philosophy a person can still be a Christian if that fulfills their spiritual needs. Satan also means the Opposite, Inverted, Reversed which is why we wear the Satanic crosses and pentagrams. Satan means the opposite of religion. Satanism is living out your feelings and instincts without feeling it is a sin, enjoy yourself while you are here now while you can and have your own individual beliefs. One thing I consider almost mandatory though is believing there are powers around us. And you can use these powers to help yourself or those you care about. I agree that Conspiracy is underrated and Them is overrated. The former is well-recorded and basically wall-to-wall bangers and the latter has thin production and frankly, cringey lyrics and vocals from the King. Still, I'd put Abigail and Fatal Portrait as my top two.
