Great reaction to the Tales! I myself have not found a song of Ren's I don't like. Nor any of the songs and covers their band 'The Big Push' has done. Nor any of the collabs he has done with other artists. So far all he does is done well. I think you might enjoy his retake titled. "Loosing It". He has used an artist's EDM song to rap over. My terminology might be wrong since I am Old. But I remember when the only RAP I heard was on the streets of Detroit.

Good call on the Quinton Tarantino esk style story telling. Ren is totally inspired by him and others. That was my thought when I saw it cuz how he starts from the end of the story, then walks it back from multiple perspectives just to a crazy plot twist at the end to bring it all together.

This trilogy is another example of Ren's genius and a master's class in storytelling; he truly is a modern-day bard. I heard it likened to a Shakespearean tragedy many times. Ren created a backstory on the characters involved on Instagram, hinting that Patrick wasn't home because he was with Screech's girlfriend when Screech called her. This is a masterpiece of a tragedy. For those who might have missed the implications of the story, here is a quick summary of the trilogy. Violet's tale takes place in 2005 ("two-zero-zero-five"). She was (sexually) abused by her father, and her mother was an alcoholic. Violet subsequently ended up in an abusive relationship with a boy named “Stevie” which resulted in her death. Jenny and Screech (James) are the twins born to Violet 14 years earlier, likely separated at birth by social services. Fourteen years later (2019, when the first two parts were released), Jenny and Screech end up face to face on that fateful night, unaware that they are twin brothers and sisters. Screech tries to mug Jenny and ends up, unbeknownst to him, killing his twin sister. Screech flees and goes looking for his friend Patrick unsuccessfully, he tries to call his girlfriend to seek refuge, but she says no, before confronting and getting shot by police officer Richard one street over from where Jenny lies dead.

Well, I'm pleased and surprised! Good call on Tarantino as an influence, Ren has mentioned him in interviews. These tales were filmed on a shoestring budget - success wasn't handed to Ren on a plate, he's obviously passionate and very hard working. In my opinion, if you write honestly and vulnerably about yourself and the culture around you and you'll produce your best work. I wholeheartedly concur. Perhaps this will be Dotta's niche, reacting to more of Ren's work? It takes a big person to front up like this. I would come back again, (but not if that coughing continues. I almost backed away from the screen when he loomed in the screen, projecting that at the camera. Not classy.) PS I still think Ren was right, it was a massacre, not a battle!!
