With age, a person refutes stereotypes in his head. After almost forty years, the myth of the big four of thrash metal has collapsed in my musical world. All thanks to less than 35 minutes of music. And it's not about the fun of comparing "Infest The Rats' Nest" to "Master of Puppets", Show No Mercy" or "Rust In Peace". Seven young Australians playing garage rock, psychedelia, fusion jazz, acid rock record completely a casually brilliant thrash metal album, without making any special noise. After all, the riff from "Self Immolate" is an absolute thrash top. I suspect that there are a lot of metal fans who will never come and hear this album. "Petro Dragonic Apocalypse. .." only confirmed my belief that "ITRN" was not a coincidence. Another brilliant metal album that I can't get rid of. It seems that there is no genre of music that KGLW won't turn into a great album. Listening their music and waiting for each new album is an exciting musical adventure.

King Gizz, masters of the hard style. This is the stuff that gave me the obsession and then the rabbit hole just kept falling deeper and deeper and deeper. All hail King Gizz!!!!! Can't wait for you guys to see them live.

Firstly: happy birthday to Sue! Secondly: happy Valentines Day to everybody!! And thirdly: the rest of the comment. I initially didn't really like this album on my first listen, but I wasn't really in a metal mood at the time. On my second listen, I absolutely loved it. Out of all 25 King Gizz albums, this is one of my 15 favorites. The Planet B music video sounds a lot cleaner than the album version. The album is a bit more lofi, which I think benefits the song and album as a whole. The band in the video represent humanity generally being stupid, and the bald lady that kills them represents mother nature fighting back. I dont know what the other videos represent, but the Self Immolate video has her drinking gasoline while the band spits it out, and Motor Spirit has a line about drinking gas. Now, since you've heard the whole album, I'll talk about the story. The first 4 tracks (Planet B, Mars For The Rich, Organ Farmer and Superbug) are sort of exposition. The Earth is generally in terrible condition, rich people flee to Mars, people are harvesting human organs (Organ Farmer is also a critique of the meat industry I think) and the remaining people are contracting deadly superbugs (a superbug is a type of real life virus). Interestingly, this album came out quite a while before Covid. The 2nd half of the album (Venusian 1, Perihelion, Venusian 2, Self Immolate and Hell) tell more of a story. A group of people build a spaceship called the Venusian 1 out of general junk, and set sail to Venus like the rich did Mars. Unfortunately for them, when they get close, Venus is at its perihelion (the point in a planets orbit where it is closest to the sun), and the Venusian 1 spaceship gets too close to the sun and is devoures (by the sun). Another group (whose relation to Venusian 1 is unknown) make Venusian 2 and, like V1, set sail for Venus. This group actually makes it there, but contract diseases. The phrase "self-immolate" is specifically referring to setting oneself on fire. And they'd rather die than be as ill as they are, so thats what they do. They wake up in Hell, no longer sick, and Satan gives them the task "infest the rat's nest", which is to say "kill the rich people on Mars." You can tell they don't like Elon Musk, huh. Or just billionaires in general. Glad you enjoyed! What a great album this is.

Superbug is an awesome song, and so crazy in retrospect. Imagine just picking a topic that goes along nicely with the apocalyptic theme - an impending epidemic for which we aren't prepared - and then BAM a few months later we get the real thing, haha. Glad you guys are still enjoying what King Gizz has to offer! They usually play a few songs from Rats' Nest since they know they are crowd favorites, though I think they said for this upcoming tour they really want to try playing songs from PetroDragonic and blending into their corresponding songs from The Silver Cord, which sounds super cool. Not sure if you're open to recommendations but I think you two would really enjoy the song Her and I (Slow Jam 2). They really expand on that song live and there are great recordings from both Red Rocks and Remlinger Farms. Or if you want some more studio goodness I can't recommend Hell's Itch enough. Can't wait until they play that song live!

If you wanna know more about the story told on this album: Earth is fucked, with among other things deadly pandemics I.e. Superbug, capitalism has gone wild and the rich farm people for organs. The rich people set off to colonize mars leaving earth for the poor. The poor remaining on earth also want to leave so they build a spaceship, the venusian 1, to go to Venus. The venusian 1s crew go crazy on the way there and fly into the sun. On earth a venusian 2 is built, and it makes it to Venus. On Venus, the people who made it suffer venusian sickness, causing nausia so bad they want to set themselves on fire, so they do and die. Oh and then in Hell they go to hell and the devil sends them to Mars to fuck up the rich people, aka Infest the Rats Nest.

Hey guys nice reaction! If you are looking to fully check off another full album I highly recommend the rest of Murder of the Universe! This album can be broken down into 3 stories. You've seen the KEXP live version of 1) Alter Me/Altered Beast.. which leaves us with 2) The Lord of Lightning Vs Balrog (official video 13min 56s long) and 3) Han-Tyumi & The Murder of the Universe (official video 13min 03s long). I hope you enjoy! woo!
