This is actually NOT the full album, but it is most of it. They didn't play track 1 "Planet B", track 3 "Organ Farmer", track 4 "Superbug" and track 8 "Self Immolate". I'd very much suggest checking out the full album, a friend of mine that doesn't really like metal outside of Primus (and King Gizz) considered it their best album (10/10) up until a couple days ago where she lowerd it to a 9/10 (Polygondwanaland is her favorite now). I think it's a great album. The guitars have a lot more bite on the album. Glad you enjoyed it! This album is just so cool. God I love King Gizzard.

self immolate is my all time favorite track from this album and one of my top 3 gizz songs in general so i was a bit sad when i say they didn't play it in this performance but this version of hell always makes up for it

Great album, great performance, greatest band and KEXP. Can there be a better recipe for listening to music? "Self Immolate" from this album has one of my favorite metal riffs. I have a dream that they would play "Petro Dragonic Apocalypse..." in Seattle. Ambrose's vocals from "Gila Monster" would sound fantastic. "Magenta Mountain" seen earlier and this performance show how inexhaustible their creativity and diversity are. I don't know any other band that delved into new musical genres with such courage, confidence and skill. KGLW's discography is an incredible journey through popular music, and these are still very young people. Every news about a new album causes a thrill. And let it last for years.

The whole album is a fantasy about humans leaving the collapsing Earth. Who had money afforded to buy themselves a place on Mars. The others had to construct a ship from junk and tried to reach Venus (Venusian 1). But on their way, it looks like they were either driven mad, or there was a mutiny, and the ship got taken by a religious cult worshipping Sun. Either way, the ship was rerouted directly onto Sun and exploded (Perihelion). Venusian 2 is the second attempt of the remaining humans to reach Venus. Spoiler: they do reach it, but the toxic gases in the atmosphere drive them mad, so they set themselves on fire (Self-Immolate). I'm not sure what to make out of Hell, though... it sounds like they are literally in Hell :D

As for Hell, after the crew of venusian 2 die they go to hell where satan gives them the opportunity to get revenge on the rich mars-dwellers aka the rats nest. You can tell its the crew of venusian 2 because they mention now being nausa-less, compared to when they suffered venusian sickness. The final outro verse is the crew attacking, or rather infesting the rats nest.
