The movie has a great look to it. Not just a bunch of CGI. It has great sounds {THE best Kong roars} and Rick Baker's Kong looks awesome. Also, not to be overlooked is the classic sounding score. It's haunting.

This was the first King Kong movie I saw. Remember seeing it with my grandma in 1997.

Saw this at the movies many times, mom just kept taking us, ha, still one of my fave movies, love this release, I really like the extra footage but I can see why it was kept out, a few parts are just a little bit silly, like in New York when that guy starts fussing at Charles grodin just before Kong steps on him, and some of the crew on the ship watching Dwan in the shower, etc. But I'll take all the Kong I can get even if it were 5 hours of deleted scenes lol. In my opinion the best thing about the movie is easily the music. I'm a rocker at heart but love classical stuff too, the music in this movie gets in your soul and hits you deep, Ive seen a couple of other Kong movies and they just don't come close to this one IMO, I just can't get into fake CGI stuff in modern movies. The only thing I would change about the movie is Kong getting a bit too fresh with Dwan trying to take her top down and touch her breast and the way he looks at her with big eyes, it comes across now as really creepy lol. I like Charles Grodin and Jeff Bridges performances, they were great in the movie, Jessica Lange spends a little too much time acting like she's spaced out, but I almost rather see that than in the original the girl screams her head off most of the movie scared to death of Kong lol. But yeah I really enjoy your reviews and videos keep them coming. I ordered this release a while back and it didn't come with a poster but I would love to have it big time!!

I saw it in the theatre when I was 11 and was just in love with it. I actually was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of visiting the site site of the Petrox crew beach landing scene on the island of Kauai which is part of the Hawaii island chain a few years ago. The beach looks exactly the same with the huge rock opening and waterfalls. Thanks for the reviews

This is such a great release, the only thing that could make it any better would be leaving in the commercials on the night of its airing.... What can I say.... Nostalgia.....lol

One of the best musical scores of all time by John Barry. Not a bad movie either.

I was crazy for this movie as a kid. I love the look and design of this Kong, which has a distinctive character and individuality compared to a regular ape. The old style special effects adds to the charm. It gets tiresome watching over the top, slick, big budget CGI all the time.
@WillVS933 жыл бұрын
Omg yes finally someone who understands! People seem to go over the moon for cgi now, and if you talk bad about it they go ape shit lol practical effects look 100x better 🙌🏼

@@WillVS93 ha ha. Maybe it's the older generation that have a higher appreciation of old school practical effects wizardry, cos that's what we grew up with and astonished us as kids. If you put 1933 Kong next to Jackson's Kong, yeah the modern effects are marvelous, but the '33 one gives me a warm fuzzy feeling cos of the stop motion. That's why I love Harryhausen too.

@@bhamacuk I totally agree! I mean I’m only 24 but I grew up with A LOT of 1970s-1990s movies so I was always blown away with how effects were done in movies especially creature effects! I would watch behind the scenes stuff and be in Awe of all the animatronics that were used!

I never cared for this version, because it had no dinosaurs as did the 1933 classic; just an asinine giant serpent thing. And even though I felt Jessica Lange was a beautiful contemporary version of Fay Wray's original Ann Darrow, I couldn't get past Jeff Bridges' hippy look as an incarnation of Bruce Cabot's Jack Driscoll. The 'giant' gorilla walked too upright, as a human would. It just didn't make it as a fearsome mutant ape! But... the worst thing in the film for me was Charles Grodin! I literally hated that he was chosen for the 'Carl Denham' character! For that reason alone, this film will never be in my kaiju collection!
