I know you did this about 9yrs ago but I can’t find a drum machine that’s pre-programmed with 3 Fills. I bought 2 DR-3 knowing it would break down. Well it lasted over 9yrs. I read the manual but there was something missing about editing a pattern. You did really quick !!! Thank you

This has been very helpful, thanks very much. It takes watching about 10 times to cover all the small details, go to the DR-3 and test and then back. This vid and a couple of others give a pretty good starting point for getting some basic patterns going. You have to really want to use the DR-3 to discipline yourself to keep trying over and over to make it perform the way you want.. Nice job!

Dara and Frank I had this unit hidden in my clear plastic box devoted to musical accessories. Suddenly I happened to remember that it also ran on AA batteries and checked online to find I was correct! So, I dug it out, found the PDF manual online, then decided to see if there were any instructional videos about advanced operations on KZbin. You should consider making at least one more video about sophisticated applications because just about every other video for this unit I saw was in a foreign language; unless people want to spend money to get a full instructional DVD...WHICH I DON'T!! C'mon dude. Being the king you should make AT LEAST one more video demonstrating the advanced techniques of this unit. I, for one, would appreciate that, YOUR MAJESTY!!! Not even in the PDF manual did I find out about all the pads for the full octave bass scale, with all flats and sharps. I was looking and finally had to experiment while reading the manual. If I remember correctly, you are given a full octave in the key of E. Plus you have the choice of the same key one octave lower. Considering your video, I am assuming you create whatever bass lines you want in the key of E and then transpose it into whatever key you like, correct? It's things like this that would be very nice to have explained in a video, YOUR MAJESTY. Compared to ANYONE ELSE giving instructional videos on this unit YOU ARE THE ENGLISH KING!!! Please grace us with your wisdom! Consider it a Christmas gift to the world! Thanks!

Nice little machine. I collect instruments and saw one for sale cheap. It's very basic which is an advantage. I use the Alesis SR60. I've had one since 1992 and they still make them, But as good as the sounds are(and they are good) I wish it had that little screen where you can see the beats and delete a wrong one. I like that feature.

Thanks Frank, I finally got my 1st song together, & I owe a bunch of it to you. You said "hey, read the book like me" (in that undeniable Brooklyn accent!). Well that's partially true, but that can also be a bit confusing & frustrating. It would have helped if the manual actually went through a complete example of how to set up styles, patterns & compile a song, but hey, that's what will weed out the "users" from the "non-users". I give you a lot of credit for being able to explain the process this quick (although there's a bunch more to learn about putting an actual song together). The song I chose actually went from a 12 bar blues into several verses of 8 bar, back to 12 bar, then finished up with 8 bar (that got a bit nerve racking). For a while, I wasn't sure if my purchase of the DR-3 was practical, but I will be publicly debuting my 1st song this weekend & again, a HUGE thanks for posting this video. Can't wait to tap in Whammer Jammer (J. Geils). Finally got my own blues band! This thing is friggin' AWESOME!

The number is not about how old or new the product is, it's the amount of features or basically an order of cheapest/least features to best/most features. So Dr.3 is a cheaper machine with less features than a Dr6.

Can I start/stop and add fills to the preset patterns in this machine "on the fly" through the use of footswitches? Never seen this machine before but Im considering it for my 3 man group (2 vocals, 2 guitars, 1 bass). I'm sick of programming and want to use preset patterns and control the start, ending, and drum fills by foot. Ya think this machine will fit the bill....was also considering either an alesis sr16 or 18...thanx
