I can’t listen to Alex Meehan without hearing Tim now. Tim is definitely the MVP of the party.

A few missed rules for a very simple game. Step 3 of a player turn; "If no one is in Tokyo, you must enter and place your Monster in Tokyo City. (Similarly, for a 5 to 6 player game, if Tokyo Bay is empty, you must enter Tokyo Bay.) Note: No Monster starts the game in Tokyo. The first player must ALWAYS enter Tokyo City during this step."

Why didn’t he leave at 1 health?
@2LettersSho4 жыл бұрын
He even said as much later on! Completely intended to leave if he took damage on Meehan's turn and yet, when Lollies mentioned that she could finish him off on her turn, just too distracted and let it happen, unfortunately.
@shinjial4 жыл бұрын
Jono Hartland that is true. I considered that afterwards, but still, it would be a chance. And still, he could have left a turn before with a bit more health and healed as well. I kinda stopped watching after that 🤷🏼♂️

A suggestion (hopefully helpful): Perhaps minimize the Dicebreaker logo in future videos so we can see more of the tabletop (and the dice rolls). Am enjoying the banter and game play of this video! Thanks for posting.

First player always has to enter Tokyo city, regardless of claws rolled or not (meaning first player should always reroll claws since they do nothing). You're also supposed to alternate the dice rerolling process, meaning you have to reroll what you've set aside from your initial roll if you want to reroll one last time. Had fun watching yall regardless, and fun is all that matters. :)

Just got a copy of this dark edition in the mail yesterday. I haven’t played King of Tokyo in a few years now, but I’m very much looking forward to play it again. Have you guys played King of New York as well? Does anyone in the team prefer one over the other?

Well done Meehan, nice win! I’d love to play some of these cool board games but I know none of my mates would want to play them, which sucks! Can anyone recommend a good website where you can play these cool Board game style games with other people, and also those cool RPG style games that I’ve seen on some of Dicebreakers videos like ‘Root’, which I’ve just finished watching part 3. I’m new to the Dicebreakers channel but loving it. Many Thanks!

Ken A Hi Ken! Our very own editor in chief Matt Jarvis has actually just published a whole article for just this on our website Dicebreaker.com! You can go check out all of the suggestions there 🙂 in terms of RPGs, Roll20 is a pretty good place to start 👍 All the best

Rule Clarificaton: Rule 3: Enter Tokyo. "If no one is in Tokyo, you must enter and place your Monster in Tokyo City". (in 5 or 6 player) if Tokyo Bay is empty you must enter Tokyo Bay NOTE (rules): The first playe must always enter Tokyo City. This STEP 3 is always done regardless of "smash" roles on dice. I believe this is a force move to get someone always in Tokyo (it's not written as an option)

Does anyone know if the evil track mechanic will be sold as an expansion? I think it would be cool but I dont want to have to buy the whole new version:(
@joelface4 жыл бұрын
My strategy in this game is to decide after the first roll if I want to go for numbers or for healing/damage/energy. If I choose numbers (which I tend to only do if I have at least 2-of-a-kind after the first roll) I don't take any energy or healing or damage until I've successfully gotten at least 3-of-a-kind. It's definitely more effective than taking some energy while you continue to hope for a third of a number on your last roll.

Great video!! I feel as though if ye played games and did it the way Will Wheaton's tabletop did their videos then that would draw viewers seeing as theres definitely a gap in the market since that stopped.

master cormac I think Game the Game filled that slot for G&S after Tabletop stopped
@mastercormac13574 жыл бұрын
@@DauntlessPanda1986 this is true, however I believe that game the game isn't nearly up to the standards of tabletop and so there's still a gap in the market
@joelface4 жыл бұрын
@@mastercormac1357 Totally agree. The tightly edited Tabletop segments were definitely more watchable. Shorter playtime and a celebrity guest made it basically TV quality compared to Game the Game and these play-throughs. I do enjoy these (and Game the Game) but it's much less likely that I'm in the mood to watch these in comparison.

Why didn't Alienoid leave Tokyo when Gigazaur attacked him? Would have avoided the Cyber Bunny attack and stayed alive.
@CallipygianMoose4 жыл бұрын
So does this version of the game use the first edition rules or the second edition rules? I noticed you said the first player didn’t have to enter Tokyo because she didn’t roll any claws. That’s the rules for first edition. In the second edition if Tokyo is empty then the player has to enter Tokyo, including the starting player
@Nickolith4 жыл бұрын
You are correct. The rules in Dark Edition state the first person MUST enter Tokyo. You don't have an option.

I have the very first King of Tokyo edition. It has my favourite type of art (i.e. very fun, comic book like appearance), but I do like this evil track just for the 1 and 2 roll improvement. I feel power up expansion was even more important to improve ♥ rolls though.

After seeing the box art, I kind of expected the monsters to look more realistic, instead they still look cartoony but everything is now just black instead? I'm not a fan, they lose a lot of their distinct character. I think they could have made the monsters "darker" in theme without literally just making them dark in colour. With the dark cards, board, monsters and dice it's just too much visually, it makes it all look so bland (which is the last word I would ever had associated with the visuals of KoT). I do like the counters and energy tokens, and the wickedness counter seems interesting and I'm glad cyber bunny is back even if they removed all the character. However, overall I think I'll stick with my classic edition with my pink bunny mech :D

Still seems like the same game with edgy art. Was expecting something more, still a good game though.
@xshadowscreamx4 жыл бұрын
Peter Gross For people that don't to spend a lot of money on mostly the same game. You can pretend you have the wicked track and use power up cards instead, Or take out some of the energy cards and put it on the "track"; a new way of getting cards instead of using energy tokens.
