@@TTUploads Narnian air does affect them in a good way and makes them feel stronger and more energized but Peter has a lifetime of swordsman skills. If they left Narnia, the air wouldn't be affecting Miraz either so he would still get his ass kicked. At the end of the day, it comes down to skill, either way and Peter was one of the best swordsmen in Narnian history (though in the books they do say that Edmund was the better swordsman and strategist)

I think it’s because the metal on Peter’s right hand is suppose to protect his hand from any attacks on it since it was his sword hand and one of the vital parts in a duel (those being his other arm and legs), it his right hand was injured then he could drop his sword and be killed in the process

The fight choreograph in this movie is phenomenal. Like it feels like both miraz and peter are actually trying to hit each other, with whatever thet have at hand. The desperate energy, of trying to survive the fight with everything they got with very grounded tactics (such as damaging your opponent's limbs while they are down or turning their own weapons against them) is also very appealing for me

Peter is actually better match for this than I remembered. He's not the one they plan to install on the throne, he's fully human which makes him respectful opponent for the all human enemy, and he's probably the best fighter they have. I don't know what Miraz was doing but he still isn't Narnia's official ruler and that council behind him could just agree on the replacement if they haven't already. And he's shown to be a good warrior.

It was a challenge from Peter to Miraz. He had to accept for multiple reasons. In the book it was supposed to be Caspian fighting him but he was hurt from the attempt to revive the Witch so Peter did it. Miraz would look bad if he refused and his advisors wanted him gone so they helped Edmund goad him into accepting.

Peter is so awesome in these movies. He's flawed, but in the end he is truly the High King of Narnia. This fight is so badass.

Excellent writing here - Peter has Miraz down on the ground, asking for a respite. Peter hesitates. Edmund advises him to carry on and finish off Miraz. So far it's just a fight between the two of them. Then we cut to a wide shot of the army of Miraz armed and ready to charge. Peter is faced with a difficult decision - does he finish off his enemy and claim victory for Caspian - risking open war - or does he do the honorable thing and give Miraz a respite, but perhaps another chance to collude with the others? Great writing, and excellent cinematography to back it up. At 1:46, Peter's body fills the frame, showing his dominance over his enemy. Miraz is lower and clearly subject to whatever Peter decides to do.

And as this is going on, Edmund calling for Peter to make a move, Caspian's gaze darts between the fighters and Edmund - clearly he doesn't know what to do - he's totally relying on Peter and Edmund to fight this battle for him.

You can see that miraz knows that peter, while in the body of a teen, he fought the white witch 1v1 and fought the wars of that time. While now he might not be as strong as high king peter before exiting the wardrobe again, he still knows how to fight and to see how he can fight with a king of miraz level and win is amazing considering miraz genuinely has an overall physical advantage

It’s like he finally understands caspians anger, and truly cares and respects him, especially for saving Susan. 2: Peter was in the history books of Telmar which told the history of the War with the Witch soooo he already has taken lives, 3: “it’s not mine to take” sent shivers down my spine but in such an awesome way.

They should have had Edmund fight Miraz. Edmund is the best swordsman Narnia has ever seen. He would have been capable of defeating miraz with more ease. I also wish Edmund had a good fight scene where he fought a decent opponent so that we can see more of edmunds skill. The closes we get is where he fights three talmarines at the same time and he kills all of them. But this was in the background and easily missed

I don't think Miraz would've accepted the duel if he's up against Edmund. Because in his eyes Edmund is basically second place or a "lowly prince", and for a king like Miraz the idea of his challenger a mere secondary lord. He would likely just feel insulted, and rejected the offer

Peter is the high king, he was the one that was supposed to fight this duel. Peter dispatches Edmund to fight those he deems unworthy to cross blades with him, which is why he specifically had Edmund fight Trumpkin, to showcase that he wouldn’t even defeat Edmund, who I would assume was majorly holding back to prevent murdering him, which is why he went for the disarm instead of a kill shot. Edmund is the better sword fighter, yes. But Peter has the highest title of the Pevensie siblings.

True there are plenty of other options, especially pole arms. Two things though. It wouldn't be shown in the movie, but since this seems set up like a judicial duel for all intents and purposes, the two parties would decide earlier on weapon types so there were no unfair advantages. Miraz could bring more strength and weight to bear with a polearm. And two, Peter's sword was both a gift from Aslan and a mark of his right to rule. He would have been most accustomed to wielding it, and obligated as king to use a kingly sword.

Historically, when going up against plate armor, a sword or dagger would basically be a secondary close-range weapon. An axe or war hammer or halberd might be used first as a "can opener" to pierce a hole in the plate before going in with the blade. To be fair, though, Narnia is a fantasy story, and fantasy stories love using swords as "one size fits all" weapons. The armor in the movies is a pretty notable distinction from the books, where Lewis put everyone in mail hauberks pretty exclusively, so heavier weapons meant for plate wouldn't really be necessary.
