Sierra games were art, not just games. You can see how much love went into making these and felt it when you played. So different from today's AAAAAA+ cookie cutter games designed to either DLC/loot box your wallet (mp) or be played through once just to experience the "epic set pieces" (sp). While there are still good - even great - games made today, there is really nothing like the Sierra games in terms of passion, innovation and pure magic as an experience, especially for younger gamers.

I had a dream where Alexander's quest involved a town set on a dry lakebed, and he sought help from Roger Wilco to move something heavy. Then, when guards were patrolling the town, Alexander asked him to create a distraction, and Roger decided to fly the Alluminum Mallard over the town and perform a couple of stunts. Nobody knew what they were seeing, and Alexander didn't even expect it. Roger, on the other hand, felt like shouting, "Yeehaw!" - and even had a couple of women in the cabin.

Little do people (especially the last couple generation know about this truly epic soundtrack, and game). It's one of the best of all time out of all video games! Especially groundbreaking at the time. The music molds to the game perfectly, made playing the game an emotional experience that will last with me my whole life. =)
@3PiecesOfBread10 жыл бұрын
Couldn't have said it better myself. Especially about newer generations having no idea what they missed out on. They'd probably look at it for 5 seconds and talk about how shitty the graphics are and how much the game sucks. If they only knew what it was like to be a gamer in the 90s...
@soul2take9 жыл бұрын
+Gi Nattak ......there were so many great, "Point & Click," games from Sierra that needs to be continued, not remade. ( Remakes of classic games lose their magic, it is best to continue the series with a new adventure, characters and puzzles that fans could cherish.) **The remake of "Gabriel Knight: Sins Of The Father" is terrible. The creators shouldn't replaced the original game design, voice cast (notable original cast: Tim Curry and Mark Hamill) and story progression.

I am glad to see this posted; I unfortunately never listened to it before, despite watching the playthrough ... please keep this posted on KZbin. KQVI is one of my all-time favorite computer games and you're right that the music is really good, especially for the era. It was groundbreaking for many ways and has influenced me to this day. I am one of those folks who really, truly enjoys the "Girl in the Tower" song despite its somewhat dated late-1980s feel. (It wasn't too dated at the time of the game.) I have such fond memories of this game and am glad that there are other fans!

Despite the fact that it doesn't have much replayability besides being able to choose one of two endings, I still played this over and over again as a kid. The music and the art was just very well done (for its time, of course). @Dailgamaster65 Yeah. I've done that before but I usually play the game in the way that gets the most points which is going the long way. I've played all of the King's Quest Games including the fan made VGA remakes done by AGDinteractive and the new conclusion of the series done by Phoenix Online called The Silver Lining. The Silver Lining is really good and has elements from all the other King's Quest Games and takes place in the Green Isles.
@Dilandau300012 жыл бұрын
Yes, the SC-88 does support effects like that, but through extensions to the GM standard (mainly Roland GS), which this game doesn't use. Note that since this game was optimized for GM, if you use the MT-32 with it the game just puts it in a pseudo-GM mode (the MT-32 predates the GM standard so doesn't properly support it) and doesn't have any effects either.

Did the SC-88 support digital effects like reverb, chorus and delay? That is one of the worst shortcomings of the general MIDI standard in my opinion and I'm pretty sure the MT-32 did a great job of augmenting it to allow those effects (to great affect!)
