The greatest moment of my life was them playing 'King' at my request at a hastily adjusted gig in Glasgow. Probably 1991. My mates were really dark with me singing 'He is coming' and the boys just smashed into it. Crowd went mad. Best gig ever. Thanks Jerry. Still got the sticks.

Just playing that chorus correctly and In time , while singing correctly in time is a small detail much much harder than it seems. Once you try it you see how much effort is put in to the "simple things" let alone the solos and writing as a whole. You have to concede Ty is on another level and definitely one of the greatest musicians of our time along with the whole band. Even with Ty's solo stuff and The Jelly Jam. He's amazing in any musical situation. Also feel grunge and Alternative need to recognize how much 1985 King's X influenced the entire 1990s rock scene to come. They created an amazing grunge alternative record in 1985. You can hear alot of future bands ideas on there early stuff. Just using a fender strat to play heavy music long before Cobain did 6 years later when the world in 1985 is playing Van Halen Kramer's with Humbuckers all dressed in make up... They deserve so much more esteem and credit. They had a smash alternative record ten years before Alternative was a thing. Nirvana Soundgarden didn't exist or just started as a garage band in 1985. Long before anyone else was playing like that. Just like the chorus part in "it's love" people don't see it until they really dive in to there music... Then you're amazed

the two times I saw kings x there were plenty of chicks in the crowd .....but you've got to consider...the guys in kings x are all christian so they more likely than not don't get involved in the usual rock band type of antics....they do their show and maybe do an autograph session.and pack it up...so I doubt you would see them hanging out at the bar getting trashed and trying to pickup chicks like my band used to do....from what read and heard in interviews they are a very private group who don't involve themselves in the usual rock band bullshit ...

Absolutely true statement. And as the years go by it just gets worse. I see and hear greater talent here on KZbin than the radio will provide. Some of the absolute best new bands I've heard were on KZbin. Usually winds up being a "local" band from wherever they recorded their live performances at. Record labels do not care what we want to hear. Just whatever they THINK is gonna make them a few bucks. I actually remember when the labels would send their talent scouts out into the real world to do just that, scout talent. When I was in New York back between 90 and 92 there was a local band that played around the Hampton area and I remember a guy talking to the lead vocalist and drummer one Saturday night and him telling them that he was very impressed and handed them his card as well as getting their info from them. I moved back to Georgia shortly after that so Idk whatever became of it but I'd like to believe they signed with a label and made millions. They were really good. But so are so many others out there that really deserve a shot but the majority will go unnoticed except by the people that are there listening to them. Such a crime, really. It's always been a hard scene to break into but there are thousands of bands out there playing their hearts out and are so much more deserving than the same 20 or 30 artists on the radio that the powers that be have decided we want to hear. I don't even listen to the radio much anymore except for a classic rock station and honestly I get tired of that because they play the same old wore out hits from yesteryear. It's almost like they want you to believe that between the 1960's and mid 1990's there were only at tops 50 songs ever recorded lol. I've called into them requesting some long lost hit and some of the dj's have never even heard of them.

I've never understood why this band isn't one of the biggest bands on the planet. Killer songs, killer hooks and riffs, killer Beatle-esque harmonies, superior solo's, killer driving bass riffs, ......just the complete package. What's the deal? Is it because they don't have a tragic, drug-addled sex image fronting the band? A pin-up boy? WTF?!!! They can play circles around 2/3 of the "world-conquering" bands out there right now. They been a great band for OVER 30 YEARS and they are still unknown to the dumb-a__ masses.

Formula for success... Get a bunch of chicks to follow your shows and make a lot of noise. Halos if several have low self esteem/daddy issues. 2. Laugh when all the dudes show up at shows to chance the girls. May want to bring in some prohos at this point, or get daddy issues on contract. 3 get a whisper thru the vine to label exec's that you're shows are selling out and violate fire codes, also parental warning will be required. When they come to showcase make sure daddy issues looks good and throws it like she don't want it anymore. Lube with alcohol, worry about tab later.

This is why King's X is so underrated; they suck live! I hate to think of them as just a studio band but damn they'd sound better live with another band member .....a 3 member band live with a drummer singing.....cleans up well in the studio but live sounds like dysentery induced flatulence.
