Really nice tidbit here that T'Chaka was about to change his views of the outside world and extend Wakanda's help until the explosion happened.

Paul Babon it’s funny how in black panther king t’chaka said we must hide from the outside world and not share our resources but in civil war it almost sound as if he’s going to not only help the rest of the world but even use there weapons outside of wakanda wich king t’chaka and t’chala felt deeply about using weaponry outside of wakanda I just find this to be annoying that there motives change in literal months in the mcu

I think the Wakanda the he meant to say in his UN's speech is worl'ds view of Wakanda, the third world country only crowded by farms, that's going to help to support the Sokovia accords, the futuristic Wakanda, however won't help.

After watching this movie again, it reminded me that Black Widow was the ONLY Avenger that apologized for the collateral damage and the deaths that occurred in Nigeria and even went to Vienna despite being uncomfortable. This gave me more respect for her. Obviously what happened was unintentional, but apologizing and owning up to a mistake can at least start the healing process. I think that was something Captain America should have done. Oh man Chadwick Boseman. Rest in Power. Our Black Panther.

Fun fact: T'Chaka speaking IsiXhosa was not a choice by the directors, but a natural development of the actor speaking it as a first language. It was then canonically made the language of Wakanda in the MCU (slightly incongruous with the location of Wakanda, between Kenya and Ethiopia on Lake Tanganyika. The people in that area speak Swahili).

One scene. All it took was this one scene to translate the love and admiration T'Challa had for his dad and the love and pride T'Chaka had for his son. So much so, that the emotion you feel when T'Challa sees his father again in the ancestral plane in the next movie 2018's "Black Panther," you remember this feeling and makes their reunion so much more meaningful. That scene doesn't work without this scene. T'Challa realized his father was right; death is not the end. That's the mark of excellent, subtle acting and storytelling.

Chadwick immediately grabbed my attention the very first time T'Challa came onscreen. He was what made this scene so moving and T'Chaka's death so heartbreaking, even though we'd just met T'Chaka. He was magnetic, so special, powerful, beautiful. I'm sad he's gone.

Interesting fact here that I read today as Ryan Coogler memorialized Chadwick. The actor who played T'Chaka is a famous South African actor named John Kani. Kani is a Xhosa native speaker and when Chadwick heard it he convinced the director that this should be the official Wakanda dialect. Even better is that Chadwick learned these lines quickly in Xhosa despite never having spoken it before. Just shows in yet another way how amazing of an actor and person he was. He will be sorely missed.

Seeing this after Black Panther makes a lot more sense now. T'Challa, in a desperate effort to redeem himself from not saving his father in time, uses split second timing to throw himself over the explosive landmine and still survive.
