Big facts, I’m a black man and I can acknowledge that we need to hold eachother in the black community accountable for nonsense while also understanding that we are in these famine and impoverished situations because of systematic oppression and late capitalism. Bottom line is the behavior exhibited by most gangstas these days is horrendous. Zero respect for the community, the elders, the youth, etc. And bragging about this behavior in music affects society in such a negative way. People need to know that it is not cool to do these things that these drill rappers are doing. Since when did it become cool to kill people?? Why have we normalized mocking the dead? We rap about killing each other and people think that won’t start to resonate into our day to day lives? It’s like we’re killing ourselves collectively

I’ll also add that while the people you cover were dealt a bad hand in some cases, in most cases they have chance after chance to do different and change their ways but they don’t. A few examples are Chief Keef and Lil Bibby. Waka is the best example in terms of rappers changing for the better. Accountability is a must amongst these grown men acting like victims 💯

100% - Dave saying Ross needs to consider that his documentary is causing people to go out and shoot someone else is complete BS. There’s going to be many triggers the victims of this violence are going to have to face. If this documentary makes them commit another crime, something else would have done the same. These killers need to be accountable for their actions. Which I think most do. Dave is making it seem like they are not responsible because Ross was the one that could be blamed for reminding them.

I don't have the will to get through this nonsense. Dude is gatekeeping songs, lyrics, artists, info, and/or how they're supposed to be perceived as if he speaks for everyone on the streets. It's INSANE how he's against Ross simply putting all this information that is publicaly available into a neat package in a 3 hour documentary, but disregards the fact that Von was basically incriminating himself with tweets everyday. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If he doesn't like the video, he doesn't have to watch it, but anyone can criticize it. It's just weird how he feels like he has the authority to tell people how things should be perceived instead of letting people have their own opinions.

Man King David is not brightest candle on the cake. It was Von who killed (allegedly) people, was tweeting about it, and rapping about it. So he published it. So saying TRL ist to blame for the harm is nonsense. He never killed someone. Thats why attacking him is only defending king von. Defending someone who boasts about his crimes. May Jesus be with us. And formost for those who are in dire need.

This idea that somehow black people have a monopoly on the grief about the black genocide going on in Chicago and other cities is so misguided. I’m a white guy from England who’s been a hip hop fan all my life too and TLR’s videos evoke a strong feeling of empathy in me for the senseless loss of human life on all sides and I empathise because I’m a *fellow human*, not because of whatever the colour of my skin is. Also, TLR - please don’t go to Chicago any time soon. Wait until all this furore over the Von video has subsided. I think it’s admirable you are planning to interview some of the people involved in the stories you cover but I’m worried that some knucklehead will take a shot at you to get some clout and the fans and I don’t want to see that happen! Stay safe.

MY THOUGHTS Exactly.

Who profited from Anne Frank’s diary? Who profited from the Holocaust? The victims. When the victims live and tell their story, it will completely differ from an outside journalist. Who would you rather hear the story from? A victim from a Jewish ghetto, or an American journalist with profit in mind? The victim is likely to share the story so other victims can listen, or people to really sympathize. This dude is profiting from gang stories that are completely inaccurate. If you base your stories off someone’s tweets instead of actual evidence, you’re bound to be called out for inconsistencies. But why do you think he wants to debate? Because HE ACTUALLY CARES FOR THE VICTIMS, OR BECAUSE OF HIS INCOME. The same way Von took advantage of the bad boy persona for income. I’m telling you, half of the stuff he said on the drakeo vs Inglewood was inaccurate.

Ross’s videos are actually a piece of art/ humanitarian justice. It’s surprising that they are so detailed and the production/ editing is so high level. From the arrangement to the writing. He does a better job reporting than the major media outlets. My role as someone looking for content on the internet while I may stumble across it I try to parentally guide myself . I don’t need to indulge in a 3 hour documentary about a killer rapper . I'm from the UK myself, I live in Canada now but like you, i've always been interested in what happens in the world of hip hop. I find your videos incredibly informative and a good example of 'what not do do'. Each of these types of videos are life lessons. They're almost like a deterrence for any rappers that want to get in to that type of life. Knowing your own life is on the line should be a stark reminder of why you shouldn't be running your mouth or getting online and chatting shit. Life's short, your videos highlight this immensely. I believe your videos are a prime example for people who are interested in what happens in places like Chicago, New York, Jacksonville, etc. I can't imagine how much work you put in to this. Every time I watch a video, I never get the vibe that you're doing this to snitch or get clout. It's informative, like Wikipedia or the news when they report on these types of situations. Thank you SO much for putting this out there and putting yourself out there like you do. Mad respect. But the most thing I'm glad about is that you're not from liverpool because god knows I wouldn't be able to watch your videos with that type of accent, mate. Keep up the good work.

A more accurate comment maybe would have been to say the guy from Chicago in the video doesn’t seem to be holding the right people accountable when it come to the violence in Chicago. If I remember right, he mentioned that traploreross had some responsibility behind the violence that commenced following his video being posted on king von. This was really difficult to watch because Dave continued to argue a point based on how journalism is causing old flames to reignite. That was not just a stretch, it was taking accountability away from those that are really responsible. At the end of the day all these people have the power in their hands to not commit the crime, the cycle ends when they decide to end it. Good on Ross and Akademiks to point out how the music that is directly mocking those who have died continues to be played and make rappers rich does not get the attention Ross is getting when all he is doing is shedding light and education to the topic.
