Tent caterpillars But on the ground? I remember trees in PITTSBURG being filled with the cobwebs from these critters. The men used to get ladders and fire up torches and climb up and burn them out. Pesticides hadn't been invented. Even though I was a kid I can remember how disgusting I thought these creatures were.

Blake island in the 90’s covered, 3 inches on the beaches, gathered in giant clumps dying.

I found 2 caterpillars on my plants and they did lots of damage. Can't imaging all of these.

I have to send this to friends in California. They are having record infestations of bees and mosquitoes Etc and we get the fuzzy little things that honestly I would have thought look like things that sometimes come off of trees! Until, of course, I realized that the entire carpets was crawling!!😮
