Dare Iz a Darkside is my favorite Redman album, came out in late 1994, it’s a concept album that feels like you’re in a smoked out dungeon the whole time. Muddy Waters is my second favorite, then Doc’s the Name. He was just on point during the mid to late 90’s

I thought you would've caught the "crazy, deranged" reference just before the Menendez brothers line. That's a line referencing Martin's stand up comedy from the 90s. By the way, the knuckleheads claim he dissed Biggie and Busta, but those are two guys he sampled on the album for hooks.

Erick Sermon. I met him at the patchogue movie theater on long island back in the day. The very next day I heard that EPMD broke up. I was in shock 😣 Also met Redman at my job back in the early 2000’s. I let him know how big of a fan I was. Shook his hand. I distinctly remember him with a big ass grin on his face and his eyes nearly shut..and he nust said, “AIIIIGHT!?” 😆
@cbretschneider9 ай бұрын
The movie Jurassic Park hit so strong when it came out in theaters that it resonated for several years after. Redman's intro to this was hype for that reason. It was also a perfect intro coming out from his last album Dare iz a Darkside, which was funky dark and heavy, hugely recommended, even more smoked out than this is, believe it or not. I hope you do a reaction to that album too. That intro was him creeping up as a monster out of the darkness into Muddy Waters. The sound quality of it was dope, especially in a car with a booming system. I remember Cypress Hill released the Temple of Boom album around the same time, another beautiful dark heavy booming album. I hope you get around to reacting to that too.

An Executive Producer is the money behind the project. Like Eazy E or Suge Knight were the executive producers for Ruthless and Death Row Records. It just so happened that Erick Sermon was also the primary musical producer on this album, along with Redman himself, Rockwilder and a few others. Erick is one of the 🐐 producers, but very much underappreciated.

Sophomore slump?? Dare Iz a Darkside is pretty commonly looked at as one of his best album and a lot have it as his best or 2nd best behind muddy waters. That album was way darker and the production is insane and still sounds amazing 30 years later, that album is a certified classic crazy to me that anyone could think that was a slump album. I love his first album it’s also a classic but he only got better on dare iz

@puppetmaster8551 okay, feel you. I've listened to a few times since the post and it's grown on me a bit more. Not much into any Redman circles or anything so I've never heard any mention of it being a fav until I read comments on the full album KZbin video, but then again I've seen similar comments on other full album uploads. 🤷🏿♂️ Saw a vid where Red says he doesn't remember the album because he was high, but guess that could be good or bad.

Erick Sermon produced all of EPMD records, Redman albums, Keith Murray albums, his solo albums, and joints like How High, and many others for other MCs… him being ahead of Havoc if very much a regular opinion based on that.
