If you check RIAA they have this album at 4x platinum. A lower amount than I think it actually sold.
@andy1181-l3m10 ай бұрын
@@seanmunson4173 yes I believe they usually list what an album sells the first week. This album came out almost 30 years ago and has now sold WELL over that. Think of it this way, when the album came out, it didnt even have Tha Crossroads on it yet! So the 4x platinum is WITHOUT that song which didnt come out until 1996 and was added on. The single for Tha Crossroads alone went 2x platinum
@andy1181-l3m10 ай бұрын
@@seanmunson4173 and to also add…Bone was shorted another grammy for best album in 1995. They lost to Naughty By Nature “Poverty’s Paradise” which is bullsh*t! Dont get me wrong, I love Naughty…and it was a cool album, but not even close to East 1999 Eternal. But again, this award was presented BEFORE Tha Crossroads was added to the album which im sure would shifted the votes big time…but even without Tha Crossroads they still should’ve won.
@wreiad6 ай бұрын
@@andy1181-l3m The 4X Platinum certification was on July 15th 1996. The album was released on July 21 1995. So it took a year to sell 4 million copies. Tha Crossroads was released on April 1 1996 and was certified 2X Platinum on June 13th 1996. There is no Diamond certification.

Now you know why we love them so much. It's crazy because back then they didn't get their props. It wasn't until the Crossroads remix when people started paying attention to them. Crossroads stayed #1 for a long time. I've been with them before it was cool to like them. I was so happy when they started getting the acknowledgement they deserve.

There was so much B.S rap back in the early 90s. People picked up a mic who had no right calling themselves a rapper. This was such a different style that some may think they were another wack group. Rap was slower and loud at the time. These brothers are smooth. Once you realize they weren't punks, you accepted Bone. I've been down since Thuggish Ruggish.
@LuvnAries2310 ай бұрын
@@Maxxroad Nah, rap was good. It was just that they were different, and you know that people don't like what they don't understand. I have been a fan since Thuggish Ruggish Bone too. Thumbs up Ahmad for this one, BTNH whole style is an Ode to growing up in CLE which at that time had a heavy R&B scene (If you know about "For Lovers Only" you know what I'm talking about) It's so many CLE references in this album, if you ain't from CLE and wasn't around during that time you wouldn't catch it. Ex. In 1st of the Month - Rita refers to RTA which is what we called the bus system back in the day, The double Glock refers to E. 99, Sowinski Ave, back in the day was a hot spot (I'll leave it at that if you know you know) BTNH's first 3 albums were can't miss classics, they definitely put on for the city, much respect to BTNH for representing the 216!

Some crazy facts about the group you may not know. Krayzie accidently shot wish in the leg with a 12 gauge. Layzie was shot in the head when he was 16 I believe. It was said that his older brother flesh picked him up and carried him and the bullet fell out of his ear. He was deaf for months then he said one day his hearing just came back. Bizzy was kidnapped when he was very young. He thought it was his stepfather but he said his mother told him later on in life when he was in his thirties that the guy was his actual father that kidnapped him. John Walsh played a part in his return to home. Flesh got locked up for 10 years. You should also check out some of Bizzys solo albums. They are true works of art and imo better than anything out right now. I've never heard an artist put together verses like him.

I'm a white dude who grew up in a shitty small all white town and listened to nothing but heavy rock and metal growing up so my experience with black culture was strictly through media until I moved away. While every kid in middle and high school was playing Dr. Dre and Snoop or shitty weak radio rock and pop, I randomly discovered this album and 36 Chambers the same year. Both albums are so dark and raw that I had to buy them even though I knew very little of where their lyrics were coming from or rap in general really. Both albums feel like complete works of art and have a consistent sound due to one producer doing the whole album.
