Yea standard is 10 album, but it also means that the label will make you less of a priority and probably block your release, they may feel they won't recoup enough in a 3 album dea,l so hold you in limbo on your last project until you pay. They typically also have a clause stating that they get to decide what counts as an album, so you can even just release a whole clip and think you off. You also have more to fulfill than just the amount of albums, sometimes there is a specific target percentage that they have to make from you on top of recouping to consider your deal complete. They play all types of games to sign you, but at the same time, you probably would too if you spending millions on a person to blow.

This is where dudes mess up at...first off who says he gets a million if he signed by himself without Mase? That's purely an assumption...and a big assumption at that. They could've offered him $500,000 or less...EASILY. He had 1 sind with some decent buzz and this was at a time where drill artist (outside of Chicago) were not getting signed for no big advances, definitely not no M's...let's be real here. So now with that in mind, Ak's whole opinion goes out the window cuz a major part of it's foundation is based on an assumption...an a wild assumption at that. Labels ain't just giving out M's like that, especially to artist who ain't either ON FIRE, or who've been independent long enough to build up a decent catalog that could be worth something long term...like a Young Dolph or sumem. Fivio had 1 song with some decent buzz (that was on the radio) ain't no guarantee that he would've automatically got a M from the label...an more than likely he'd prolly got a lot less then that. Not to mention the money made out into him, wardrobe, videos, studio time...Mase paid for all that. That's why Fivio owed him the 50k. Without all that he wouldn't have looked or sounded as good (like a top tier artist) and I doubt he would've attracted a bag that size (at that time) without Mase and the money he put behind him...which was a lot more than 5 bands. Niggas make it and forgot how they got there and who helped them. Meg the stallion doing the same shit rn, but without the visibility that the dude who originally signed her gave her by putting all that money into her I doubt she would've popped the way she did and when she did.
